BIBLE EXPOSITION OF 2ND JAN. 22 BY BRO. ELI

Thanks be to God brethren.
From what I learnt from today's bible Exposition.

1.Ascension

Before now, I believed that ascension has happened already to some people, people like Elijah, and Virgin Mary. Contrary to that former believe, Brother Eli made me understand that ascension have not happened yet to anyone. In his teaching, he pointed out that no one is ascending ahead another, which means ascension will occur ones. And that is when our corruptible being has died. God will resurrect an incorruptible being that will ascend to heaven.

He also point out that only one person has ascended and that is he who came from heaven, which is our Lord Jesus Christ. He came, died not because he spoke against the priest but because of our redemption. I also learnt that Jesus ascended to heaven to prepare a place for our incorruptible being that will on the last day ascend to heaven. He also pointed out that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.

2.Tithes

A question was raise if tithe is a commandment of our time.
Responding to this question, Bro. Eli taught me that tithe is not our time commandment. He pointed that of the 12 tribes, it was only the Levis that was commanded to collect tithe because they weren't given any inheritance. Summarizing the issue of tithing, Bro. Eli made me understand that tithe is not the law in Christ time but rather in Moses time. From Hebrew 7:5, 12 and Acts 13:39 these things where further explained. When the priesthood was changed, the law also changed

If tithe is not the law of Christ, what is?

This can be found in 2 Corinthians 9:7 and 8:3. Christ command was for everyone to render according to has his purpose in his heart and his power. I learnt that what matters is not the amount given, rather the willingness displayed in given. Giving should be voluntary and cheerful because the bible tells us that God loves a cheerful giver

3.Baptism

Today I learnt from Bro. Eli that those who are not baptist are not obeying the ordinances of God. He spoke about the importance of baptism as the first act of washing away our sins and getting us prepared for God's work. That is preparing our bodily vessel for God. Vessel of honor as referred to it in 2 Timothy 2:20-21
He pointed that we can only be used by God if we are clean vessels.

Bro Eli also spoke of female leadership which he said is not biblical. Sighting that no woman was among the apostles of Christ, he said that female leadership was prohibited.

4.Gambling

A question was raised if gambling was a sin?
Brother Eli answered using the book of proverbs 1:10-15. We were instructed not to give our consent when entised to cast lot. Also we were asked today to refrain from the path of such people.

In conclusion Bro Eli spoke about the old path being the true religion, which he pointed was testified and written by the disciples, using 1 John 1:1-5, John 21:24, 1 Corinthians 1:1-2 and 2 Corinthians 1:1 for further explanations.
