Day 1 Mass Indoctrination by Brother Eli (10/1/2022)

I thank God almighty for making it possible for me to be a partaker of today's Mass Indoctrination service by Brother Eli.

Before brother Eli took over, Bro Daniel advised that we shouldn't go beyond the things that are written. Using 1 Cor 4:6, he taught that if any man think himself a prophet, let him acknowledge what is written in the bible as commandment of God. He noted that our ways of living should be according to the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ and that should be the basis of our faith.

The indoctrination is the teaching of the way of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are in the christian dispensation, which is the dispensation of Christ. Teaching further, he stated that God himself gave the command that we should listen to Christ. This is in accordance with a verse in Matthew 17:5. In this verse God called Christ his beloveth son in whom he is well pleased and commanded us to listen to him.

I also learnt that Jesus alone is our master and we must listen to him. Noting that if we listen to false doctrines, we leaves the commandment of God and lives in commandment of men. He said that such worship is a worship in Vain.

Brother Eli spoke about the importance of baptism. Using Matthew 28:19-20, he stated that before Christ ascension to heaven, he instructed his disciples to go into the world and make disciples of them through baptism in the name of the father, son and holy ghost. And also teach them to observe things commanded by God. This makes baptism the first doctrine of Christ. He also taught us that baptism is not among the 10 commandments but prepares us for the commandment. He also said that before anyone gets baptism, he should listen and accept the doctrines.

Bro Eli stated that anything which is not written in the bible is not a commandment and we should not accept it. St. Paul said, everything I write to you is the commandment. Speaking about same Paul, he narrated as Paul persecuted the people of God but later turned to God and was baptized.

Teaching on the need to join the church
I learnt that Christ himself is the head of the church. The church is an entity established for men to join. Christ loves the church and purchased it with his blood. So for us to love Christ and obey his commandments, it is important we join the true church. Joining helps us cleave to what is good by learning the teachings of Christ.

Finally, I learnt that before we formally become a member of the church of God, we need to be baptized and for us to be baptized, we need to accept the doctrines of God.
