But if you cannot help, let him or her seek for a Special Doctor who can resolve it

Let me share with you some of the things that can lead to depression:

CAUSES OF DEPRESSION

(1) Stressful Life Events can cause depression:

Sometimes, stressful life events, may overwhelm a person's ability to cope, and this may be the cause of depression in one's life. For example, a person may be forced to take a job that does not meet his needs, especially the kind of job that requires a serious energy, time or resources.

(2) Brain Chemistry Imbalance:

Scientifically, depression is known to be caused by an imbalance in the neurotransmitters which are involved in mood regulation.
Neurotransmitters are chemical substances which help different areas of the brain in communicating with each other. If certain neurotransmitters are in short supply, this may cause the symptoms we recognize as clinical depression.

(3) Sadness:

Feeling down, having a loss of pleasure in daily activities — these are symptoms which most times we are familiar with. But, if they are consistent, it can affect one's life substantially, and this may lead to depression.

(4) Grief and Loss:

Depression can also come through the loss of a loved one, and individuals experience many of the same symptoms of depression. Grief make one to be depressed.
Grief is a common response to loss. Losses that may lead to grief include the death or separation from a loved one, loss of a beloved pet, or any number of other changes in life, such as divorce or retirement. Anyone can experience grief and loss, but not everyone will experience depression.

(5) Physical Health Problems:

As we all knew that the mind and the body are clearly linked together. If you are experiencing a physical health issue, you may discover changes in your mental health as well.

(6) Conflict:

Depression may also result from personal conflicts or disputes with friends or family members. Conflict amongst the family most times leads to depression, especially when it involves in physical fight which may leads to injuries.

(7) Abuse:

Sexual, past physical or emotional abuse can cause depression in life. If one is sexually abused, it may take time for that person to recover from this experience.

(8) Financial Problem:

Continuous exposure to poverty may make some people more vulnerable to depression. And when one is financially broke, depression is bound to set in. Example, a man who is expected to meet the needs of the family loses his job, can start feeling depression or wants to take his life.

In conclusion:

Depression is a real illness which can lead to a variety of physical and emotional problems which can decrease a person’s ability to function at home or work.

Fortunately, depression is treatable. It can be treated properly if proper diagnosis and treatments are available.

If you are experiencing symptoms of depression, the first step is to see your family Physician or Psychiatrist. And make sure you talk about your concerns and request a thorough evaluation. This is a start to addressing mental health needs.
For many, regular exercise can helpful in creating positive feelings and improving one's mood, and getting adequate sleep on a regular basis can be helpful.
