Having an automobile in these times is a great advantage in terms of the guarantee of mobilization and time-saving in transfers to other distant places from where we are. Taking into account the poor quality of service in public transportation, it will always be advantageous to own a vehicle.
As with everything in life, it must be taken into account that, being a material good, it may suffer wear and tear in its parts as a consequence of its constant use. Therefore, apart from the respective preventive maintenance (which we rarely comply with), it also gives rise to corrective moments when there is damage in any of the parts that make up this material good.
As I have told you in previous publications, from this appreciated community, I have a Hyundai vehicle, a 2008 Getz model, which has turned out to be a very good car from every point of view, both in its operation and performance, as well as at the time of repairs that I have had to do at times.
It is a very comfortable, functional, efficient vehicle, with the presence of spare parts in the country, economical in many aspects, from every point of view, a very convenient car that I love to have and use. But, like any car with several years of use, of course, some details need to be repaired.
Tener un automóvil en estos tiempos, es una gran ventaja en cuanto a la garantía de movilización y ahorro de tiempo en los traslados a otros lugares distantes de donde nos encontremos. Tomando en cuenta la deficiente prestación de calidad de servicio en el transporte público, siempre será ventajoso ser propietario de una unidad vehicular.
Como todo en la vida, hay que tomar en cuenta que, al ser un bien material, puede sufrir desgaste en sus piezas a consecuencia de su uso constante. Por lo cual, aparte de los respectivos mantenimientos preventivos (que casi nunca cumplimos), también da origen a momentos correctivos cuando hay daño en alguna de las piezas que componen este bien material.
Como les he contado, en publicaciones anteriores, desde esta apreciada comunidad, tengo un vehículo Marca Hyundai, Modelo Getz del año 2008, el cual, ha resultado ser un muy buen automóvil desde todo punto de vista, tanto en su funcionamiento y rendimiento, como también al momento de las reparaciones que he tenido que hacer en algunos momentos.
Es un vehículo bastante cómodo, funcional, rendidor, con presencia de repuestos en el país, económico en muchos aspectos, desde todo punto de vista, un automóvil muy conveniente y que me encanta tener y utilizar. Pero, como todo automóvil con varios años de uso, por supuesto, se presentan detalles que hay que reparar.
In this opportunity, and the respective daily review, when we go to use the vehicle (oil and water level basically), I noticed an abnormal emptying of water in the radiator and the container that supplies the water of the same (located laterally) and apart from this detail, at the time of completing the water, I noticed an abnormal dripping in the lower part of the radiator, which, of course, already confirmed an abnormality or damage.
For this work, we requested the support of my mother's husband, who is a mechanic and would perform the work without charging us for labor. This way, we could reduce costs, since nowadays, with the cost of spare parts, the total price of repairs is often very high.
The radiator was disassembled to diagnose where the damage was and to be able to make the respective repair. The hose that goes from the radiator to the engine was disconnected and the electric fan was also disconnected, as well as the cowls.
En esta oportunidad, y en la revisión diaria respectiva, cuando vamos a usar el vehículo (nivel de aceite y agua básicamente), noté un vaciamiento anormal del agua en el radiador y el envase que surte el agua del mismo (ubicado lateralmente) y aparte de este detalle, al momento de completar el agua, me fijé en un goteo anormal en la parte baja del radiador, lo cual, por supuesto, ya confirmaba una anormalidad o daño.
Para este trabajo, solicitamos el apoyo en la mano de obra, del esposo de mi madre, quien es mecánico y nos realizaría el trabajo sin cobrarnos por mano de obra. Por allí, abaratamos en cuanto a costos, ya que, hoy día, con lo que cuestan los repuestos, muchas veces se abulta el precio total de las reparaciones.
Se procedió a desmontar el radiador, para diagnosticar donde estaba el daño y poder hacer la reparación respectiva. Se desconectó la manguera que va del radiador al motor y también se desconectó el electroventilador, así como las caretas.
Once the radiator was disassembled, it was observed where the damage was and it was at the level of the lower tank (lid or base) where the radiator is positioned. This tank had some cracks, perhaps already caused by the time of use and it was there where the water was leaking.
We decided to buy the part new, since, if it was repaired with a special glue for this type of work (tank glue), there was a risk that it could correct the fault, but, in the course of a few months, it would appear again. Therefore, we decided to replace it with a new part to avoid this type of complication in the future.
We purchased the new part, which cost $15 (Getz 1.6 2008 Getz 1.6 lower radiator cap). The radiator and the part were taken to a workshop specialized in this area, since, this work, to be more accurate, is preferable that it is done by someone specialized in this area. This tank as such has connections, has openings through which oils pass, such as the gearbox oil, which is cooled with what is the radiator coolant.
The specialist disassembled the old part and proceeded to do also, at once, maintenance and cleaning of the radiator in its entirety. The old part was quite damaged and, as I said before, presented a lot of cracks, which were, of course, the origin of the water leak. In addition to cleaning it, he tested it with compressed air and after that, he mounted the new part to the radiator.
Una vez desmontado el radiador, se observó donde estaba el daño y era a nivel del tanque (tapa o base) inferior donde va posicionado el mismo. Este tanque tenía unas grietas, quizá ya causadas por el tiempo de uso y era por allí donde estaba fugándose el agua.
Decidimos comprar la pieza nueva, ya que, si se reparaba con una pega especial para este tipo de trabajos (pega tanque), se corría el riesgo de que pudiera corregir la falla, pero, en el curso de algunos meses, se llegara a presentar nuevamente. Por ello decidimos sustituirla por una pieza nueva para evitar este tipo de complicaciones a futuro.
Adquirimos la pieza nueva, la cual tuvo un costo de 15 $ (Tapa inferior del radiador Getz 1.6 2008). Se llevaron el radiador y la pieza, a un taller especializado en este rubro, ya que, este trabajo, para ser de más precisión, es preferible que sea realizado por alguien especialista en esta área. Este tanque como tal tiene conexiones, tiene aberturas por las que pasan aceites, como el aceite de la caja de cambios, el cual se refrigera con lo que es el refrigerante del radiador.
El especialista desmontó la pieza vieja y procedió a hacerle también, de una vez, mantenimiento y limpieza al radiador en toda su extensión. La pieza vieja estaba bastante dañada y, como les dije antes, presentó una gran cantidad de grietas, que eran, por supuesto, el origen de la fuga de agua. Además de hacerle limpieza, lo probó con aire comprimido y después de eso, le montó la pieza nueva al radiador.
The radiator was in perfect condition, with its new part mounted on the base, correcting the leak. The labor cost of what was done to the radiator, including the installation of the new part, was $20. We proceeded to assemble the repaired radiator and made the connection of the hoses, as well as the electric fan again, and tested that everything was working properly.
A seemingly simple repair, but very important, because the engine temperature is a crucial and extremely important point for the proper functioning of the vehicle as such. We should not skimp when it comes to repairing our cars because it is the best way to extend their life and we can enjoy them comfortably and effectively for a long time.

El radiador quedó en perfecto estado, con su pieza nueva montada en la base, corrigiendo la fuga. El costo por mano de obra, de lo que se le hizo al radiador, incluyendo el montaje de la nueva pieza, fue de 20 $. Así, se procedió al montaje del radiador ya reparado y se hizo la conexión de mangueras, así como del electroventilador nuevamente, y se probó que todo estuviera funcionando correctamente.
Una reparación en apariencia sencilla, pero en realidad muy importante, pues, la temperatura del motor, es un punto crucial y de importancia extrema para el buen funcionamiento del vehículo como tal. No debemos escatimar a la hora de reparar nuestros automóviles pues, es la mejor forma de alargar su vida útil y que podamos disfrutar de ellos con comodidad y efectividad durante mucho tiempo.
Debo disculparme si no manejo mucho el lenguaje de tipo técnico, pues no tengo conocimientos en el área sino como usuaria. A partir de allí, les dejo mi experiencia. Gracias por acompañarme en esta breve reseña. Nos leemos en el próximo escrito.

Hola señora Marybell, la felicito por hacerle su respectivo chequeo diario al vehículo, el cual como dice es necesario y más hoy en día.
Que bueno que pueda contar con quién le ayude en cuanto a los trabajos mecánicos y el radiador también necesita su mantenimiento y es importante atender esas fugaz a tiempo como hizo, ya que esto puede causar calentamiento y graves daños. No sé preocupe si no es mecánico jeje, lo importante es compartir la experiencia y está también puede ser desde el punto de vista de un cliente satisfecho.
No te disculpes @marybellrg por no dominar la terminología, queremos conocer las experiencias de todos desde su perspectiva. Ese es el costo por ese trabajo, creo que está bien, suele pasar por utilizar agua y ni refrigerante, lo sé porque me ocurre los mismo, gracias por compartir.
