Jane's Illusion~The Ink Well Prompt #105 Contest
Jane is a lady in her mid 30s whose desperation for her missing rib had grown to a high degree. She fantasies daily, her dream man and how she wants her future wedding to be. Jane, forgetting that no one is perfect as everyone has flaws, keeps refusing suitors and expecting to see what her illusion has been presenting to her.
One afternoon, while sitting under a mango tree in the center of her compound. While in a deep trance, she had a dream that felt so real to her. In the dream, she saw herself sitting in a love triangle open space at a park. She saw a shadow of a man covering her face with his two palms calling her name softly. "Jane, will you accept my surprise? " Just when she was about to say a word to the person, she woke up.
Each time she sleeps, she keeps seeing the same illusion in different dimensions. One of her colleagues named Eric has been trying to gain Jane's attention but Jane has been giving him an unconcerned attitude. Eric is rich but doesn't show off, you wouldn't know unless you are one of his inner circle friends. Can be categorized in the list of handsome men and mostly works in same office with Jane
Her interest is in her dream type of man. A man who is very influential, handsome and always present around her. Eric, who never gave up on Jane, kept shooting until Jane decided to reluctantly agree to giving him a trial. Seeing Eric's lifestyle, Jane realized that she allowed her illusion to cloud her inner mind. She realized Eric is the person she never knew she was looking for.
After a few years, they both decided to make their courtship legal by getting married officially. On the day of the wedding, he was at the altar awaiting Jane to majestically walk the stairs of the aisle to meet him. While at the middle of the stairs, she began having an illusion that the stairs are endless. Her feet were trembling and shaking like she would fall which left the groom, men on suit, and the guests confused.
Seeing everyone's reaction, murmuring, she tried to balance and walk majestically but it was difficult. Immediately she stopped working, closed her eyes for some seconds, breathed in deeply and breathed out and opened her eyes leaving a beaming smile on her face and resumed her walking and now just as a bride is expected to walk down the aisle.
Eric, seeing her composure, was relieved and happy. At last, she walked up to her husband and their union was blessed, they made their vow to each other and wore rings. The witnesses and guests applauded them happily. Eric was so proud of Jane for being able to fight her illusion and conquer.

Sometimes, ladies should not begin to imagine unreal situations because it may not be nice in the end

Most ladies have high expectations in what they expect from their future partners. Sometimes unrealistic expectations because out of all mentioned,it will be very rare to see one who possesses all the expected qualities .
It's not bad having expectations but it's also necessary for one to know that life is unpredictable and full of uncertainties. With this at one's mind, helps one move on and accept whatever life offers and craft it into his or her desired expectations.
@marynn even what the other expect from me will still be lacking in hers.
There's no need to even expect anything. In as much as we're from different background, there'll always be that fusion and room for confusions.
The best thing is accept whoever, work with them, observe them and build them finally to become who you want.
With that, you're safe of course.

I agree with you in the part you said "the best thing is accept whoever, work with them, observe them and build them... but to finally become who you want can be difficult because most can be very adamant feeling you want to more superior than them or suppress them.

Thankfully, the proposal went well and all her illusions were resolved. Imagination is dangerous when it is overrated..

It's a good thing she didn't miss her dream man. I admire Eric for choosing to live simply irrespective of the fact that he was loaded.
His simplicity is indeed admirable @loveah . It is rare to see people like character Eric although they exist but few. Many forget that the best thing in life is to keep an open mind and stop limiting themselves to specific ideas of what their ideal man should be. This illusion has left many unmarried
The illusion that Jane needed many grand things to be happy was shattered by the realization that happiness was right in front of her! Then, during the ceremony the stairs become a dauting length as she walks towards Eric, yet our bride crossed this distance with grace.
This story was nice, however it would have been wonderful to see some development of Eric's character, as well as more time spent on how they fell in love.

Jane had a picture of a perfect man right in her head while the perfect person was already by her side but she was too ambitious to see him.
I am glad she did in the end and was lucky that the young man was patient enough to wait for her.

It's a beautiful story, sometimes our dreams yearn to come true and we realize it too late. Fortunately Jane finally realized it. She overcame the difficulty in the last steps and they were happy. Thank you for sharing this story
