Greetings to my beautiful ladies and gents in the QC community, I'm glad with the number of participants daily and the 100 celebrated followers in one of the post made by the admin.

For this week contest on:

What is characteristic of your culture, your country or your region? What has your culture teach you about yourself? What part of your culture do you think is important for the world to know about?

Culture is the belief, customs and values that a group of individuals share. Different countries have their way of life, which defines who they are. This can come in different forms, from the type of food, mode of dressing, style of greetings and so on.

There are things that make people's culture outstanding and valued. In my country, we have things that make our culture unique. I am a Nigerian, from the Igbo tribe. Igbo is the eastern part of Nigeria. Five states make up the Igbo tribe in Nigeria, these states include: Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Abia. These five states are one because they believe in the same thing and practice the same culture.

What part of your culture do you think is important for the world to know about?

                  OUR WAY OF LIFE

Parts of my culture that people need to know about include:

Igbos believe in ancestral spirits Igbos have a strong belief that ancestors protect their own on Earth from bad spirits and should be called upon. We believe in Chineke which is Igbo name for God.

Music: Igbos are known for their unique traditional songs rhythmical pattern accompanied with traditional instruments such as Ogene, Udu, etc. Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe is one of my favourite Igbo highlife singers.

Festival: Igbos have lots of annual festivals. New Yam festival, cultural annual festival, masquerade festival, etc.

Food: Igbos are also known for having different cuisine. We have different kinds of soups which taste delicious. In Igbo land,we refer to soup as 'ofe'. Types of Igbo soups include ofe ede, ofe nsala, ofe onugbu, ofe akwu, ofe Oha, and much more

Dressing: The dressing mode is very unique and eye- catching. Once you see an igbo man dressed in his traditional attire, you don't need anyone to inform you that where he is going is an important place or an occasion. For the men, they wear Isiagu, a fabric patterned with Lion's heads over the clothes with color combinations of red and black. This Ishiagu top is accompanied with a red cap and a black trousers and a staff. While women wear lace blouses and wrappers with a touch of the lace color to match. The women, to complete their look, adore themselves with red big traditional beads with what we called Nza (horse tail). It is mostly used during a cultural dance or traditional marriage.

What has your culture teach you about yourself

Lastly, my culture has taught me to be hardwork, to love, to be independent and to actively participate and consciously involve myself in anything that has to with Igbos ways of life. As Igbos, we love and help ourselves. We are known to be bold as lions and adventurous. Igbos are independent and hard working hustlers with spirits of optimism. We want to learn a life of comfort and peace and that's while we strive to make genuine money without letting the challenges halt our destination. Many have this notion that Igbos love money, the truth is that not only Igbos, everybody loves money just like no one will spit out sugar when he or she has a taste of it. We only strive to be independent, make money and live a peaceful life. I strive daily with this saying "money does not save life, it preserves and sustain life". Money is not a want, is a necessity that everyone strives for. Shalom ❣️❤️

Wowww I loved it, you're right sometimes people who are not part of the same culture can have a different perception of what it really is, and I love that you have explained exactly why your culture has taught you to be that way. And most importantly I am glad that your culture has taught you to be strong, independent and to help those around you.

Thanks for joining our contest ♥️
