The fear or grace of dying lives in our mind

Remembering this holy week that these days I was sharing with a couple of good friends who undoubtedly were fulfilled the word of love until death and after death as well. Many times they used to play with this and when we were young we used to make our meetings a real party of laughter, sharing and emotions as if we were going to live the next day. Barely two years ago, now in their adulthood, we still did not lose contact to meet and share memories of our golden years. Even though Gonzalo and Martha had been married for more than 20 years, love and affection were vibrant.
At a certain moment Gonzalo became seriously ill for a year, Martha saw him day and night, minute by minute at his side, even though the doctors said it was an illness that could consume him little by little and that the worst could be expected at any moment, Martha clung to God to heal him, she could not live without Gonzalo's presence.
We used to meet at Martha's house to pray and ask God for Gonzalo's healing, and in less than 6 months he had his toes amputated and then a leg, it was very painful to see the suffering of these friends who were so special to me. However, they had my full support.
Covid 19 came to my town and the restrictions for visits were null, only via cell phone we could communicate with Martha and her faith made things look much better for Gonzalo's condition.
Exactly one year later I was able to visit them, Gonzalo was quite recovered, he smiled more often, and it was good to see him well.
I continued to visit them on several occasions until one day I arrived again and Gonzalo had been unable to sit up on his own for two days.
Gonzalo asked for the presence of an older son who lived far away from town and he said he wanted to see his son.
Gonzalo's son did his best to come and visit them and spent the whole night since his arrival with him, helping him to get up a little, he treated the wounds he had on his leg and Gonzalo spent a happy night with his son.
Two days later, part of the family met at Gonzalo's house and it was surprising how much he had improved, he was very happy to see his son, to have him by his side, but this happiness did not last long for everyone, Gonzalo did not wake up on the third day.
Martha was very disconcerted, she had gone through a lot with Gonzalo, she cried out and asked God to take her to Gonzalo, she could not live without him.
On the way to the cemetery, Martha kept saying that she wanted to die, that she did not want to see her husband buried, I was holding her hand, she was in great pain, she had not eaten anything for two days, and suddenly Martha fainted, at the time we thought that if she fainted it was because of the weakness and everything that had happened recently with the grief, but when Martha arrived at the hospital she had no vital signs, Martha had died.
Friends, it is incredible how everything happened so fast, Martha wanted to die and that is how it happened.
Two great friends were gone, and it leaves us with the reflection that love breaks all barriers.

The most acceptable thing we can do in our lives is without a doubt not to forget that death is always there, and that it is up to us to enjoy every moment that God puts in our lives.
To have the word death in our mind give more value to our life and the virtue to enjoy every moment, appreciate every day, every smile, every detail, every sunrise.

Greetings and a big hug to you.
