Digital portrait painting || Painterly style

Hello good people on hive, i am here to share my todays portrait painting. The other day i painted a portrait using clip studio paint and today to change the feel, i used photoshop to paint this. Also because i wanted to experiment with some highly textured brush on a portrait. These brushes are mainly used for landscapes because you know, how nature has so much different texture to it....

Most of the time we use softer brush to paint portraits, if not, then we still try to blend them as smoothly as possible... But making a smooth blend of colors with a hard edge brush with texture on is really hard, instead you can just keep all those textures. It wont look much real but it would give more "art" vibe...

Used Reference photo for this portrait painting.

I couldn't get all the things that are in the photo, all the jewels sure makes her more "her", but that seemed too much detailed. i even sketched the glass she is wearing but that was covering a big part of her eyes so i removed that because i love drawing and showing eyes..... I would rather just focus in a point and then paint other area in a way so that focused point gets more attention... I tried to do that here, whether i succeeded or not depends on if the viewers realized it....

Here are some process shots of this painting:

Great portrait! I love the way you use bold strokes of color and vibrant colors in your work!

thank you. Although making bold strokes aren't my thing because i am afraid of ruining the painting but i have been watching some tutorials where they say its good practice to do that....

Well, you draw a digital illustration, so you can not be afraid to make bold strokes. There you can go back a few steps. I think this is one of the best features of digital illustration )

yes, you can always undo stuff and cover them up but you don't really see your mistakes until its too late.... then it becomes more work... thats why i am afraid
