Friday Beer review

I find that most standard Chinese beers aimed at men are flavourwise toned down western beers. By which I mean they are mostly quite light flavoured. There is also a beer scene aimed at women. Here they seem to very strongly focus on the incredibly sweet and sour flavours.

There is a kraft beer scene in China which has been growing over the years. Where I live, Xiamen, it exists but most of the places don't have bottled/canned products. As Xiamen is somewhat touristic they want to get most out of the customers by giving them the pub experience.

Today I got some beers delivered to my place. The first beer I tried was Fiery Shield which was a horrible disappointment. It was so light that I pretty much couldn't taste anything (I didn't even snap a pic of it). The second beer was quite nice. It is a Belgian white beer by Qiaorookie:

Quite amazing long lasting foam levels for a bottled beer. I am not a big fan of beers with orange notes but because it is so toned down I think it pairs pretty well.

Well that's all for today. Let me know if you have any Chinese beer recommendations :D

Is the alcohol content well regulated in the beer there?
Also, the cat looks like he may have had a sip or two, which is nice since you have a drinking buddy.

Sent ya a tip since it is after the 7 days.

I don't think it is very well regulated. Pretty much anybody can start selling and close shop if the regulators come. For cheap liquor it is very uncommon to have problems because there is not much profit and the punishment is equal to faking expensive liquors. So it more optimal to fake the expensive liquors.

Safety rating for restaurants, pubs etc is much better. There is a 3-level safety rating here. If you just go to the top ones you'll be ok.

So far no methanol poisoning :P

Thankies for the tip :o)
