What is a journal? A journal is a daily record of one's thoughts and experiences. However, it doesn't have to be limited to these.

You probably still can't figure out how writing on a paper or a notepad can help your wellbeing. Well, it's not hard to tell why that is. It is simply because most people know little on how our thoughts and state of mind affects our wellbeing.

Most times we feel emotional down or stressed out with negative thoughts and circumstances around us. Most times we don't know how to deal with these emotions or stress.
However, it is has been studied that writing down your thoughts and feelings regarding a challenging circumstance can help you feel better.

Putting emotion into words allows you to generate fresh ideas. It helps you process the information to better understand it and gives you a better perspective to looking at the challenge and a new way to approach them.

Moreso, putting down thoughts and experiences in writing leads to self-discovery. It brings a sense of awareness, revealing your strengths and weaknesses. It brings you to a place where you can see how your lifestyle choices affect your wellbeing.

Also, when you use your journal to write down your goals, you can keep better track of your intentions. This serves as a reminder of what needs to be done and how.
It helps you to be accountable, keeping abreast with your personal growths as well as achievements.

Furthermore, keeping a journal gives you a safe space to let-off some steam, free of judging eyes or even hurting someone in the process.
Study has shown that writing down your frustrations works just about the same way of telling it to someone. If you need to get something off your chest your journal will be there to hear you out.

Baby steps are all you need to start your journal keeping journey. it could just be a few words or even a sketch that expresses your thoughts, ideas or feelings each day. The little things matter. Less is more if you think about it.

Was never interested in writing Journals until I stepped into my College life, due to some reason I had started, not in a physical notebook but on an Android app. Reasons behind choosing an app were that the physical one might reach someone's hand which I would never think of happening and the second one is customization in an app. You can add photos too which makes those journals even more detailed and beautiful.

Yes, the reasons you mentioned behind writing those journals are relatable to mine. Some hidden thoughts, emotions, special events, and many more. Well, I had to stop writing that journal as I lost the initial reason behind starting that. A huge gap and then found hive as a way for some of those hidden thoughts and unspoken words to get a place to rest and that's how it's going.

Yeap, one should have a place to express their mind which usually stays unspoken, whether it's a person, a journal, or anything that can ease us from bearing them silently. Expressing ourselves helps us to heal better.
