Colony Air Drop for Splinterlands
A lot of players are excited for the upcoming new air drop for sps staked holders. The arcadecolony will start airdropping token Colony near the end of this month, February 2024.
In total there will be at most 21 billion Colony tokens ever to be minted. In the initial airdrop for sps stake holders it will be 1 billion minus initial funding and divided in half between GLX stake holders. The air drop would happen daily for five years.
This new air drop will reel in more interest from players that goes beyond just playing Splinterlands. First game out of arcadecolony is a neat Mario kart look a like which I can’t wait to see.
As of now the only earnings players who staked sps are daily sps and vouchers. The last related airdrop of GLX tokens had ended. Yet here we are about to get another excellent opportunity to earn more value for holding sps.
My Opinion on New Airdrop
We are multi year into sps daily reward distribution and as time moves forward less and less sps are being distributed. The demand for the token maybe weak at this time since there are not much utilization. However with the upcoming airdrop that will last for five years it gives a mid to long term increase in value for holding sps.
We are nearly halfway point of sps ever distributed. The remaining to be printed sps tokens will be harder to come by now then in months pass. I am hoping the difficulty in earning sps will make it that much more valuable.
As of now I am 902nd in staked sps which I hope will allow me to earn sufficient Colony tokens to potentially start investing in the new arcadecolony games. I am looking into how the first game Moon Karts pan out. For now just having the hope that I can earn some new tokens is great news. If I am able to play new game with the earned tokens it is even better. All around seems like a great win win situation.

I don't mind the new airdrop but I just hope that it doesn't affect the release date for things in GLS or Splinterlands. It does look like they have a product out to test already though.

Since we are halfway point of sps distributed
What happens after all the sps gets distributed?
Good question. Never really discussed after five years of distribution but I may have missed the memo of what comes after. The main focus now is fly wheel effect where players have to spend sps to get Dec to grow land assets and so forth. I would assume more utilities with sps such as collecting other airdrops.
I wish everyone congrats for this airdrop, i am not holding any splinter land assets as of now.
It's good that airdrops like this keep coming to Sprinterland users here, it keeps people interested in the project.
