Splinterlands - Chaos to Beta Cross Over Cards White Splinter

I have been playing in the bronze and silver leagues in the past couple seasons since Chao Legions cards arrived and have been struggling more often than not. I come to the conclusion that Chao Legions cards are very competitive compare to those of the older series of Alpha and Beta. In fact some Chaos cards are so good I would say they are better than that of the older legacy series. Today we will be looking at some of those Chaos cards and how they stack up against older series cards with the specifics of life splinter.

Out of the gate Chaos' Sunkai Harvester is a better card than Beta's Silvershield Warrior.

At higher levels Silvershield Warrior has more health while Sunkai has more toughness and an additional ability Oppress. Bottom line when playing matches and these to head to head it would appear they are reasonable matches.

A stable tank card in the life splinter for a long while is Silvershield Paladin. With Chaos arrival comes a worthy adversary in Chaos Knight. Although 1 mana higher in Chaos Knights it comes with a higher melee and toughness.

image.png

image.png

In addition to both having shield ability they each have additional abilities at higher levels. Chaos Knight alluring inspire leads it to be in favor of melee formations while Paladin has magic reflect to further its defense stance. If by default the cards are facing head to head Chaos Knight has the upper hand with higher Melee. In addition it is worth noting Chao's also introduced a reflect magic tanker in Blinging Reflector. Once the monster is level 5 and higher it has magic reflect ability and its stats are uncannily similar to that of Paladin.

image.png

Another common to common cards comparison is Chao's Stitch Leech against Feral Spirit. At base level both have similar stats and abilities.

image.png

image.png

By level 6 it appears Stitch has an upper hand since it also has Life Leech while Feral has more toughness. By max level both cards are mostly similar in stats but with two abilities with Stitch versus one in Feral I would lean toward Stitch having the slight upper hand on this when used in formation.

With a slight higher mana count in Portal Spinner it still is comparable with Peacebringer. What makes this interesting is that Portal Spinner has Scattershot and Snare abilities while Peacebringer throughout its levels never have any abilities. On one hand the abilities are not over power but on the other hand the stats between the two monsters are comparable.

Another pair of range monsters from the epic rarity that is reasonable comparisons are the Prismologist and Air Elemental. Although Prismologist massive mana count compare to Air Elemental the attacking stat and health are reasonable similar. In addition Prismologist has one of the most offensive abilities in the game in blast.

It is worth mentioning Pelacor Arbalest is also a very good range monster with double strike. At rules sets with equilibrium this card makes it one heck of a monster to defeat.

image.png

We looked at melee and then range monsters. Now its time for two magic monsters. Chao's Time Mage versus Defender Of Truth is clearly reasonable comparison. Both at max level have additional abilities but worth mentioning Time Mage is a Rare while Defender is a Epic.

image.png

image.png

Abilities for Time Mage are Slow and Rust while Defender has Protect. Either way they both are effective against defending opponents but using different techniques.

In addition to Time Mage there are two Epic magic monsters in the Chaos series.

image.png

Temporal Master and Dax Paragon. Both reasonable magic monsters worth mention since they have low mana count while posing magic attack.

What better way to end a life splinter cards comparison than to see two legendary cards. Chao's Adelade Brightwing and the Angel Of Light are reasonably similar.

image.png

image.png

Stats for stats comparison Adelade appears to be the better well rounded monster as it posses a magic attack even with lower health. While Angel Of Light is really on the passive defensive as it won't attack but and Inspire teammates with higher melee and has tank heal.

Another worthy note is in Chaos the addition of zero mana legendary monster in Soul Fiend. Nothing in Alpha or Beta can compare and this card can come in handy at max level with swift ability.

Conclusions

Is it not interesting to see how so many cards between Chaos compares with those of Alpha and Beta. It is almost like a mirror image for some of the cards we compared today. What I have not brought up is the $ price of each card. Clearly Chaos is a lot less in cost than its rivals in Alpha and Betas. This goes to show that even new players or players that lack Alpha and Beta cards still can be competitive.

Chaos Legions is bring out the opportunities to stay relevant in rank battles without punching holes in the wallet. Yet there are subtle differences in Alpha and Beta cards. Would the differences be worth the cost? I personally think they are not. Although Alpha and Beta cards are limited and they have higher collection power the Chaos cards brings in more bang on the buck and easier to max level since there are more cards in circulation. Bottom line if I was starting to play and even as a veteran I would be looking to max level Chaos cards mentioned here compare to those of the Alpha and Beta series.

Interesting comparison on old to new cards, but also one key thing to remember is the rules of the matchup will recalibrate what is good during each match i.e. in harvester vs silvershield warrior in a reverse speed match you may want silvershield warrior.

Yes good point with when to use beta versus chaos if we put rule sets in. What I was trying to get at is the price of beta really worth it to own over chaos? In current prices I feel chaos are very good substitutions when we consider prices of each card. Thanks!

Yeah there are many cards in chaos that provide a comparable effect although I'm not so sure how great this will be for the wild format where everything goes. That fine line and power creeps are one of the hardest parts in balancing games and creating that unique ecosystem.

That's why games like pokemon have to do a reset in their standard matches because certain series will be too op so they cycle out and switch from ex to lvl x to mega, to whatever else changing major game rulesets.
