This is my third installment of comparing new Chaos Legion cards with older Alpha / Beta series. The first and second installments were about life and fire splinters respectively. Now in this post we take a look at death splinter.

Chaos Commons Versus Beta Commons

In both life and fire splinters the commons in both series had some resemblance noticeable that was easily visible. Whether it was name of the monster or particular stats of the monster. For death splinter commons it was somewhat of the same case.

First pair to compare have the same ability in reach. I have not seen Spineback Wolf be used much and I feel it will be similar with Shadow Snitch. The melee on both are low for their respective mana count 4 and 5. Yet they are very different when it comes to speed as Shadow is slow with 1 while Spineback is at 6.

Sneak ability appears in both Silent Sha-vi and Skeleton Assassin. Yet Silent has a high mana of 5 while Skeleton has 3. So the stats have some separation but both are melee attacking.

There is closer stats at max level but the abilities are different. There is Cripple and Piercing in Silent while Skeleton has Poison. The Poison is probably more effective and since it only needs 3 mana Skeleton is pretty useful in low mana formations.

Not exact comparison but the two cards in Crypt Beetle and Animated Corpse have similarity to be tankers in a formation. For Crypt Beetle it is good against melee attack while Animated Corpse against magic attack.

At max level the stats of Animated Corpse seems reasonable for a 4 mana monster. While Animated Corpse does not have toughness all other stats are higher than Crypt Beetle.

The additional Chaos commons left are shown above and similarily Beta common. The cards really are different in use and setups. One is range attack, another melee, and third does not have any attack. While they are all low in mana count they have use in low mana battles or in specific rule sets.

Chaos Rares Versus Beta Rares

The unique mix of monsters in death splinter is seen in this pair. One Life and another death and one increases its health for every monster lost in the battle field while another reduces all health of enemy monsters by one. Both in higher levels have magic attack and both low mana count.

Rare monsters with range attacks from both Chaos and Beta had similarity in Soul Strangler versus Twisted Jester. The stats between both monsters are closely similar while ability in Soul Strangler resembles that of Beta common's Haunted Spider but with more speed and health.

Dhampir Stalker from Chaos is unique in itself with high mana count.

What is unique between these two monsters is that they both have stats to be good use as tanker monsters. Both with melee attack and high health.

Chaos Epics Versus Beta Epics

Out of all the epics between both series the Magi Necrosi has the most similarities with Dark Enchantress, but it does not mean they are very similar. Any case they are both magic monsters with same health, same magic, and same mana but their difference is abilities.

image.png

Remain epic Chaos versus Beta death cards are shown above. There is a pair of magic monsters to compare but stats are different with margins +/-2 and abilities.

Chaos Legends Versus Beta Legends

image.png

Look at the resemblance between the cards above. The both look like warloards and have horns on its heads while holding something that creates lightning like power. From there they are different in that Djinn Muirat is magic while Lord of Darkness is melee. They both do have same speed and both health similar with also toughness. The abilities are different in their own right.

Chaos also has another zero mana monster and its a legendary.

Conclusions

The stats and abilities are similar in common and some rares. Yet in epic and legends there is more similarities in art work than stats. All in all the Chaos and Beta series in death splinter look more similar than not when compared to fire splinter.

I have come to learn death splinter can create unique combos and is especially useful for low mana battles. Whether it remains to be seen with introduction of Chaos appears for now to be reasonably intact as most common and rares between Chaos and Beta have a lot more in similarities than differences. I look forward to using the new Chaos cards.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!
