Splinterlands - Cost to Max Level Card Series

The chart at front of post says it all. In order to max level up all regular foil cards per each series is in gray bar. While to max level up all gold foil cards per each series is in gold bar. Note Alpha and Beta gold foil series is empty because there are not enough gold foil cards on the market to make a complete set.

Max Leveling Chaos Legion Series

$10,266 is the approximate cost presently to purchase max regular level of all Chaos Legion cards. This includes the special promo card Dr. Blight. What it does not include are future air drop cards that have yet to be created and distributed. There are (14) air drops in total so this series purchase will be missing (13) of those cards.

In total there are (91) cards in the series with (29) common, (28) rare, (17) epic, (17) legend. The break out in individual cards would be (11,600) common bcx, (3,335) rare bcx, (782) epic bcx, and (187) legend bcx. That is a grand total of (15,904) individual cards that makes up the current max Chaos Legions series, excluding 13 airdrops.

Packs Versus Individual Cards

With around two weeks to go before Splinterlands has its general sales of Chaos packs lets take a comparison look of spending the same amount of $ used to purchase a max level set of cards versus straight out purchasing booster packs?

Assume for now we get bonus packs just to make it simple and somewhat realistic. $10,266 / $ 4 = 2,566.5, since we can not get half a pack we round down and its comes to 2,566 booster packs. Based on bulk purchases:

Purchase 2,500 packs gets us an additional 75 packs so all in all a grand total of 2,641 packs. (I believe vouchers are required to earn additional bonus packs even though not required to purchase packs in general sales. That means I would need to hold 75 vouchers at minimum to earn the bonus packs. Someone can correct me if I am mistaken.)

Chart above curtousy of Peakmonsters.com and lists estimated value of 1 pack opening equating to around $2.722 of cards. With a total of 2,641 packs and no potions utilized it comes out to be around $7,188.80 of cards. This is just a price estimate. Note that is also a grand total of 13,205 bcx cards.

Assuming best case is the packs open have sufficient cards to max and no gold foils, which is totally unlikely but for sake of simple comparison, we get:

15,904 bcx in max set vs 13,205 bcx in packs. A difference of 2,704 bcx cards at minimum needed to get to max set. That is at least another 541 packs.

Conclusions

What I am trying to get at is the actual current market price to obtain a max Chaos Legions set is actually pretty reasonable. First compare it to all prior series before Chaos the numbers are staggering. Alpha and Beta both over $200k to max and nearly $90k to max Untamed. While here for Chaos barely a bit over $10k.

Second the price of purchasing individual packs with a max deck simply costs more. There are so many variables involved that one needs to outright buy a lot of packs beyond what current market prices for individual max level cards would cost.

I did not have to get into a indepth analysis in this post and most my numbers came from monstermarket's cost estimator tool:

https://monstermarket.io/cost-estimator

The tool basically adds up current market price cards to meet max level and can be broken down into splinters, rarity, regular foil or gold foil, and even breaks down to each league. For instance to get just enough cards to reach max cards for gold league play:

It will cost under $6k. A game that is running for over 3 years and still going strong. The on boarding is clearly doable for anyone considering the current market prices for players to upgrade their cards. If you still sitting on the sidelines thinking it is too expensive to play think again.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

Yes, This is how it was announced. One VOUCHER will be needed for every bonus pack received.

Potions also play a role, and hard to put a number on it because many daily players accumulated a good number of potions which can not be traded (only consumed for opening packs). And I believe you have mistake: buying 2566 packs will get you 513 extra bonus packs. And there might also be a discount for members of a good guild...

Purchasing 2000+500 packs should have entitled you to get 400+75 packs with the corresponding vouchers.

So in total, 2975packs.
