Splinterlands Initial Look Over Land 1.5 White Paper

I have been procrastinating with writing on the land 1.5 white paper. It has been out for over a week and recently there has been some updates. Today I finally got to it and in this post I briefly discuss my opinions of the incentives and costs to play land 1.5.

For reference here is the link to the white paper:

Starter Packs

For 10k DEC or DEC-B for the price of one package. There are three different types of packages to offer. I personally will focus on buying the "Building in a Box" package as it provides Power Source.

Card and DEC Staking

You will need to stake cards to have the land work for you. Each land plot will handle up to five cards. To unstake cards there is a three day cool down. Also worth mentioning once a card is staked on a plot they can no longer be used as a game card to play matches or rent out to earn passive income.

Worth mentioning Runi cards provide a bonus spot making it a total of six cards to stake per plot of land. It is worth mentioning there are only 3,521 Runi ever minted while a total of 150,000 land plots. This bonus will be very limited in use for sure.

Power Source

In earlier discussion I mentioned how I plan to buy Starter Packs for each of my land. This is because one new asset in the game that is required to operate the land is Power Source.

Each Power Source will cost 5k DEC or DEC-B on its own but with the Building in a Box Starter Pack it will be included.

Also another bonus if one uses a Runi the card itself has a Power Source therefore players will not be require to purchase a pack or Power Source individually.

Staking DECs

With the ability to stake cards to perform work on land there is also another requirement to earn the rewards from working. In order to obtain the rewards one also needs to stake DEC. The amount of DEC required to be staked is capped but there is no minimum. The cap is 10k DEC per max-level card. Note DEC-B can not be use here. Also no cool down to unstake DEC or restake.

The rewards earned from working the land plot is determined by the card level staked and how much DEC staked. Here is a couple simple examples. If a player stakes a max level card but no DEC staked they will yield no rewards from the work. Meanwhile another player with the same card staked but also staked max 10k DEC they will earn max rewards for the card that is staked.

In order to reach max reward yields the player will need max level cards of the highest rarity and gold foil while staking 10k DEC per each card for a total of 50k DEC per plot.

Production Points

To determine how the amount of rewards a player can yield they will need to know the production points of their cards that is being staked in the plot. Chart above is the production points depending of level and rarity.

Depending on the card set will be a multiple factor towards its production points. For instance Alpha cards are 10x while Beta are 5x and Untamed at 2x. Ideal card would be a max level gold foil from the alpha set.

There is no difference whether the card is a summoner or monster. Furthermore no matter what cards stats or abilities it won't effect how many production points it has.

The land once surveyed will have a terrain type. The type provides boost for specific cards being used. A snapshot of some of those boost numbers are shown above. It is worth noting neutral cards do not provide any boost or deduction on working on plots.

To summarize production boosts there are specific tasks or assets that can help a player increase their production on plot beyond just the cards and DEC they stake. The boosts include holding titles, totems, or using multiple Runi in a single plot.

Conclusions

That was as short as I can make it for a quick summary of what to expect come land 1.5. It is exciting to finally to see this part of the game come to life. Many players I know have already been strategizing and planning on the steps in preparation of land 1.5. You can see it just in the price of certain assets. For instance gold foil legends lowest price currently exceeds $60. Meanwhile titles there were on the open market for low cost have essentially been bought out. So many directions to go with playing this part which is giving overall positive signs for current Splinterlands as a whole.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

Oh, it costs 10k DEC per card? I didn't really read all of it through but it looks like a lot of DEC will be locked up once things play our and it's too bad DEC-B can't be used either.
