Splinterlands - Slow and Swiftness (Abilities Review)
A couple days ago I discussed the sneak and snipe abilities. Since that looked appealing comparing the two abilities and identifying the similarities and differences I decided to the same with another pair of abilities.
Slow Ability
The slow ability will reduced the speed of all enemy monsters. The ability can be stacked with other slows, for instance if you use two monsters that have slow then your opponent's monsters will reduce speed by twice as much as if it was from one monster.
The slow ability will also effect how often a monster will miss in melee attack. Hence by apply slow on your opponent's monsters it will slow their speed and increase their chances of missing when they have melee attack.
There are 17 cards that can have the ability slow. The ability is reasonably distributed among the splinters. Fire and water have 2 monsters, earth, life, death, and dragon have 3 monsters, and neutral has 1 monster that can have slow.
The most versatile monster with slow is likely Creeping Ooze. The monsters is neutral with slow ability at 1 bcx. It has a melee attack by level 4 and is max at 2 when it reaches level 9.
Swiftness Ability
The swiftness ability when applied will increase the speed of all friendly monsters. In an exact opposite of what slow will do! Swiftness can be staked if it is multiple of the same ability is used in one battle.
There are 8 monsters that can have swiftness while only 7 can be used in ranked battles. Interesting to note death splinter has no monsters that have swiftness. While fire and life splinters have 2 monsters each with swiftness.
Conclusions
There is more differences between the two abilities than similarities. The only similarity I see is that both abilities start with the letter "S", but beyond that they are almost opposite of each other in other ways. There is almost twice the amount of cards with slow than swiftness. One ability, in slow, effects your opponent, while the other ability, in swiftness, effects your friendly monsters.
Tactics for using either of these abilities is the intention to have your own monsters act before your opponent. Where if the rule set is in play you would want to have your speed reduced so you can attack first. While in a battle with no rule sets you want your speed higher than your opponent so you can be the first to attack. Either slow your opponent or speed up your own monsters to increase the chances of having your monsters act first.
Until next time thanks for reading!!!

I always prefer swift over slow, as all your monster will go up a speed, however a enemy monster at 1 won't go lower

Nice post. I remember reading in one of the 'Splinter Bites' that being too swift also can make you miss, especially if the opposing monster is slow... can't remember very well....
I love to select Brownie on the board. Also, I place inspire and retaliate ability in my team to spice things up.
