Splinterlands - Spineback Turtle Pretty Solid (Weekly Battle Post)

I am a little surprise Splinterlands would be choosing more of the older series cards to review than the most recent Chaos series since it is likely more players have used certain Chaos cards than the older series. Yet I am glad this week they picked Spineback Turtle is this card is one of my go to staples in the game when ever I have water splinter formation. So commonly used I basically do not think and often pick the card as my tanker even if the formation is magic focus. The following battle will prove why I love using Spineback Turtle as a tanker and often.

Formations

The match here has a max mana of 21 but what is very limited is the splinters allow in battle. Only fire and water splinters are allowed with one rule set Explosive Weaponry. I went with water since I felt magic combine with Explosive Weaponry would be difficult to beat.

For my formation I started with none other than Spineback Turtle. Then follow up with Mischievous Mermaid, Medusa, Ice Pixie and ending with Pirate Captain. It is worth mentioning I wanted to get as many monsters that could attack at first round so the five together chosen was mainly so I could start off attacking first and hard.

My opponent also went with water splinter and started with Sea Monster followed up with Hardy Stonefish, Furious Chicken, and ending with Nerissa Tridawn. The heavy mana monsters seem reasonable choices but due to lack of speed I felt I had the upper hand in the formation setup.

Round 1

I am surprise that at the end of the round I had lost Mischievous Mermaid. Then again my opponent was down Hardy Stonefish and Furious Chicken. It came down to a couple of their monsters against most of my formation. In addition my Spineback has more health that their Sea Monster.

Round 2

The round basically turn out to be the end of the match. Sea Monster was knocked out first but my Spineback took a knockout hit and I was down to three while my opponent had Nerissa Tridawn. The next attack would be the final knockout and I got the win.

Conclusions

It did not appear obvious at first but my Spineback Turtle did decent damage against my opponent. Holding down the fort while hitting back with thorn it was an ideal choice at tank position.

Currently I have up to a level 5 alpha version of Spineback Turtle. However I was limited to a level 4 in battle as my summoner Alric Stormbringer was only level 3 at the time. I still had the upper hand as I had five against their four monsters and really three when considering Furious Chicken is a fill in.

The high health in Sea Monster would be no match with the Spineback Turtle and since my opponent was down one health by the start of round two it was clear they were being outplayed. The toughness prove to be useful as there was not enough magic attack on my opponent's side to damage and knock out my monsters.

Study hard lads on the Spineback Turtle as there are not many in circulation.

With less than 20k of Alphas and Betas of this card currently in circulation while over 400k active accounts it sure is rare to own or even play with such a card but I am happy to have showed it here today in a battle I used it and won with.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!
