InkTober Drawing 2021: Day 14 - Tick

avatar

Hello everyone!

Today, I want to share with you my new artwork for InkTober 2021 drawing challenge day 14 with the theme "Tick".

20211014_192636.jpg

I had a few of options of tick to draw ranging from an insect, a bug called tick and the Tick Tack of time.

I ended up choosing this one - a tiny woodland arachnid of the suborder Ixodida.
It is quite a blood sucking bug with 8 legs. They feed mostly on domestic pets by sucking their bloods and can cause allergic reactions. They can also feast on human blood when they locate a desired spot.

Just like every other living animal, these creatures do suffer from a life time injury. Sometimes, they are being unnoticed. Take a look at one of its legs. Some parts have gone off probably being taken away by a predator who tried to feat on it. It fought its way and excaped. However, those parts can't grow back again.

The drawing was done with a blue ballpoint pen on a cardboard paper using cross hatching technique. My steps are below:

I thought it was a spider, I'm terrified of it. LOL. But I saw that it is a tick. I look super like all your drawings.

Haha, well they are related to spiders! They have 8 legs like spiders and they both are classified under arachnids.😊

I know I brought some back from staying in a hotel once and I had to put diatomaceous earth all around the corners of the bedroom and around the edge of the bed after drying the sheets. It did the trick once they get a tiny bit of diatomaceous earth on them they dehydrate and die. The only other way to get rid of them is to heat the whole bedroom with heaters up over a 100 degrees but you only do that if you have a major infestation.

Yes sure they are found in the body of some dogs but I don't know how they do get to the skin of dogs maybe through cool ground

When a dog gets in contact with another one maybe while playing or sleeping, they can move to another dog.
