When water is accessible, students can truly focus on learning

The Hive borehole projects have created a ripple effect, extending well beyond providing access to safe drinking water — they've transformed the classroom experience for students. In many areas, we're seeing something much bigger than simply creating development opportunities — we're seeing a new landscape of what it means to be educated.
When a fundamental necessity such as water is satisfied, everything else starts to get better.
Prior to the installation of borehole systems in their community, many students were constantly juggling school responsibilities along with the heavy responsibility of collecting water. As a result of this daily chore, many students would arrive at school tired, late, or missing altogether due to their long walks and fatigue associated with physically carrying all the water they needed. Today, since those long walks are no longer necessary, students can now concentrate more on their education.

Students' commitment to education has clearly changed. Attendance has increased, student participation has increased, and there is an evident renewed seriousness toward education. There is more energy, focus, and enthusiasm from students toward succeeding in school.
There are many wonderful testimonials being reported from these communities. Students talk about having more time to study, teachers report that their students are focusing better in class and parents say they feel relieved because their children will no longer have to worry about finding enough water and instead can prioritize attending school. All of these testimonials represent the real evidence of success for our programs.
Learning occurs when the most basic requirements of individuals are met. Providing clean drinking water to the communities we support by installing borehole systems supported by Hive is directly helping to create the foundation upon which future generations can build. It serves as another example of why sustainable development should include addressing not only immediate needs but also the potential for long-term growth.

We are extremely proud and thankful to witness the incredible advancements made in education within each of the communities that we support. We are motivated by this success to continue moving forward to additional locations and to develop additional solutions to enable future generations through water and opportunity.
