DISCARDING THE OLD,TO REGARD THE NEW

I don't know why she was so hung up on keeping the haggard, displaced and lifeless appliance,
The oldie is old enough to be referred as my uncle, if it were animate.

It was of those usual mornings, i had no preconceived idea regarding the oldie fridge that will surely meet your gaze when you enter our parlor not until i heard GBA GBA GBA GBA...............................(metal clanking), it was deafening.
Those of us in this part of the world in Nigeria per say, will need no proforma in order to get the gist because,that's usual way scavengers announce their presence.

Mum! Let sell this lifeless fridge, i said.
No oooo, why will you sell it? The fridge is still useful now,she retreated.
You mean the fridge that only serves as a reservoir for our old books and footwears? How's that any use mum?
Okay! tell me,where will you keep those books that you kept inside?
Where will you keep this, where will you keep that.....?
She asked all these questions in less than a minute.
All her questions left me dumbfounded,while i tried doing some reasoning based on her own stance but no matter how hard i tried to see through her still those questions weren't going through me.
Her ploy to trick me to kill that idea seems to be falling.

Few seconds passed,Mum! I'm still gonna to sell it, a response finally came.
Can you please lend me your hands to carry it outside? i asked.
Mhenn! you need to be see the struggle but she had no choice because i was so adamant.

I and the Scavenger agreed on a good price.
I gave mum her share(i'm not a stingy daughter,lol....) and i get to keep mine(the main reason behind the scuffle between myself and mum)
Afterwards,i did some cleaning and rearrangement to those items my Mum thought will be homeless... lol(pun intended i meant laying around.
In the course of this,she made some rhetorical questions that caught my ears.
Why do i find it hard letting go?
Why am i hung up on keeping a lifeless freezer?
How can a thing spur lot of out lot of emotions ?
And right there, i had this thought.

You can't appreciate the "New"if you're so hung up on the " Old"...
You can't live your present wholefully,if you constantly remind yourself how woefully you were in your past.
If there's anything you should learn before let go,it is anything that has lost it original purpose because sometimes,letting go releases you to grow.

Even if the grass seems green on your field, take that leap of faith if God has promised to make the grass greener on the other side,remember Papa Abraham.

Change is scary when it comes at us suddenly but take that leap of faith alongside with God's blessings for the new journey or phase.
Don't be scared, if time to let go and allow God.

(P.S- Mum loved the new arrangement when i finished up, now I'm considering a new career in interior decoration.... just kidding.
