Reflection, Refraction, and Prisms

Share your battle.jpg

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?

Well I hope the answer is as honest as it would be flattering, but it would surely be surprising if the mirror on my wall answered in any way perceivable by the human mind.

Mirrors, reflections, refractions, mirages, and all those other light phenomena are quite interesting. I found them invigoratingly stimulating. Imagine how a straight and completely undamaged pencil may appear broken and bent in the right light configuration. How fascinating it is for a single source of white light can produce a beautiful spectrum of colors such as those in the rainbow.

This week's Splinterlands Share Your Battle challenge theme made me recall those simple and fun science experiments with glasses and light, and those thing called prisms.

This week's theme is Prismologist.

If that doesn't sound very scholarly to you, I don't know what adjective you could call it. It sounds like a person involved in the in-depth study of Prisms. I wonder how that person conduct a self-reflection.

I personally don't have the card yet so to the marketplace I went. Searched high and low for the cheapest deal I could find and I landed on one that looked affordable and fair so I settled on that one.

After equipping myself with a Prismologist, I looked for a match. By the way, I just have to say, she's one fine Prismologist. Look at that soft and silky hair waving with the wind.

Lineup

For the summoner, I chose General Sloan to maximize the potential of Prismologist as a ranged-attacker.

For the tank position, I went with the Shieldbearer. Although this fella doesn't really directly benefit from my summoner, it's the ideal tank in an unlimited mana allocation match. I'm pretty confident that he can shield the Prismologist and the other attackers behind him

In the second position, I placed Pelacor Arbalest to be the frontrunner of my run and gun kind of strategy. Together with the Prismologist, they really benefit from the buff of General Sloan.

I have to admit that this placement was a mistake, I meant to put the Venari Crystalsmith at a later slot but just like real life, sh*t happens and you just have to roll with it. I chose Venari Crystalsmith to be my healer and backup attacker. Crystal? Prisms? I could really see the connection. But aside from that, they both complete my run and gun offense.

In the next slot, I chose to place the Portal Spinner as another part of my ranged-focus team. Aside from having virtually the same stats with the Prismologist, I think that they could be the opposite side of the same coin. Just look at their armors and their style. This reminds me of when Erza Scarlet faced off against Erza Knightwalker, what's up my fellow Fairy Tail fans?

ps.jpg

Well, since I got here already, I thought that I go all out with the ranged-focus team. Joining in the Prismologist in this campaign, I placed the Evangelist in the fifth position.

And for the last position, I placed the Prismologist.

The Battle

The match started as quickly as it was found. I thought that the opponent has an ultimate go-to team for this unlimited matches. And as the decks unfolded I sorta got the premonition that it wouldn't end well for me.

Screenshot 20221223 123841.png

The opponent and I have the same strategy all around, but looking at the cards on the table, it was clear that I have the disadvantage, but who knows? Maybe somehow, the Prismologist could reflect some hits, refract reality and shine a glimmer of hope in my fight.

The Result

Clearly, my strategy fell short mainly because of the level gap. Plus, the opponent has some sort of a dual-tank strategy going on there. Even though I manage to break the front line, there will be another wall to stop my attacks right on track.

Strategy wise, I think that I had the right thing in mind, I should just strive to use higher level cards in the battle.

For the replay, you can watch it here:

Conclusion

I liked the Prismologist card not only for it looks but for its stats as well. She could really be a great addition to a ranged-focus team.
