China bans gaming, will we see a Decentralised Gaming Boom?

There's a lot of people out there that label China Communist but let's be honest here, China is not a Communist nation it may operate in that style to some degree but it isn't. China is an Authoritarian government in that it dictates to its citizens on what they can and can't do.

Their growing social points system is indicative of their approach to control the lives by subtle changes. Mass surveillance of citizens is another indication of that, their facial recognition technology that is rolled out onto people is of military grade.

An alarming position to advance on your own people, where the current views and objectives of governments might be of good intentions it opens the door to abuse by future governments. As history tells us, nothing good can come from absolute power.

China's Gaming Ban

Melton Recreation Reserve136.jpg

China recently expanded their Authoritarian approach to gaming for kids under 18. It is now outlawed for kids under 18 to play any video games between Monday to Thursday and only allows for one hour a day on Friday Saturday and Sunday. What's even more alarming is that recently when parents in Australia were asked if they approved many said they did. There was a mainstream media news story on it with one mother stating that she would welcome the approach here in Australia because she'd be able to say "it's not me it's the government" Source

I understand that parents might struggle with controlling their kids at times and gaming is addictive as an 80s baby I had the privilege of riding this revolution into mainstream. Unfortunately for me there wasn't as much cash attached to it but it was still fun.

Through my own lived experience and that of many others I know we often picked up the console to smash out a few rounds of counter strike then onto call of duty and modern warfare. I miss these late night rounds with friends laughing as we played. Command and Conquer was another fantastic game we used to play.

Did it lead to sleep deprivation and late nights, yup. But so did my licence and going for drives with friends, so did sporting tournaments and pretty much everything else.

Did I come home from school and straight to the console, yup. Did I skip out on studying, yup. Did it ruin my life? No. In fact I still passed uni, I've still gotten a decent job and I still game late at night. Infact it's what I did to stop me going insane when the only way to get a crying baby to sleep was to cradle them in my arms and sit in a chair.

It is the role of the parents not a government to make these rules and in place of video games what are parents giving their children? Tell their kids to turn off the game while the parent disengages and sits infront of Fox news for 6 hours or some other mainstream media site raking in billions of profits because their T.V is on? Or while the parents scroll through Facebook arguing with strangers?

Parent:Turn off the game kid
Kid:But I'm bored can we do something?
Parent:Hang on Jessica a person on the internet is wrong and I need to tell them I'm offended

Yeah, we've all been kids we know how it is. At least gaming builds skill sets in problem solving, coordination, engagement and a heap of other things that you won't get from sitting infront of the idiot box listening to someone's agenda and eating it with a spoon. Parents should turn off the T.V (just a thought)

I've recently reconnected my Play Station 3 to play Zombies on Call of Duty with lil miss, she finds it the funniest thing to date and we have alot of enjoying.

But you know what I also do with my kids, play with them, build things, enroll them in community sports and build their skill sets across multiple platforms.

In the source link provided above it States that China's Gaming industry is worth $US32 Billion which indicates alot of employment and economic activity is generated. All of which as stated in the article was immediately disrupted due to China's ban. All the ban will result in is mass job losses and another industry that will go off shore to another nation (America incoming more industry)

China's short sited move has a far greater impact on the broader community than they realise.

Despite this fortunately block chain technology is here with the ability to remain anonymous and access games through Decentralised gaming platforms. As China hasn't just banned gaming they have linked it to a Government run server which provides an announcement and ADS! So they will know if the rules are broken. (Cash grab with fines anyone?)

Decentralisation provides the opportunity to circumvent China's ban and no doubt this will be why in recent days the cryptoshphere of gaming is booming.

It also puts money into players hands and out of big companies. So it will be interesting to see if it can be reclassified as a job. What parent is going to complain their kid is playing video games all day everyday when their 12 year old is funding their lifestyle? It's interesting isn't it. When cash is involved people don't have anything to say.

Let's take a moment and reflect on why FREEDOM is so important.

Decentralized gaming is definitely an option for the Chinese kids. However, would the games the kids play be able to be placed in decentralized platforms?

Depends really but where there is a will there is away. It won't be good for peer to peer gaming due to the network doesn't enable that form of connection.

But who knows what the future holds and in the mean time Splinterlands!

Communism is certainly not happening in china.

Rule by force is the disease, who and how are symptoms.

The news here is saying that truckers there are blocking highways over the tyranny.
Is that true?

No, it is not true.

There was a rule because states are idiotic and were making truck drivers get tested every time they crossed the boarder. Some guy got tested something like 8 times and ended up with a nose bleed.

The truckies wanted to be exempt and be tested every 3 days, considering many have been vaccinated they didn't understand why they were coming under the same rules. There was also a pay dispute but mainstream media likes to picture truckies in a negative light as anti vaxxers to sell head lines.

There was like 3 trucks somewhere up north who did block a freeway and prevented like 3 people going anywhere but it's remote up north so don't know what happened. Think they had to get a tow truck in to tow the truck.

It is quite strange how illogical the directives of those in power are. An intelligent operation would express itself less dilletantely, wouldn't it? If you really want to get the people on your side, you would not test those already injected. The consent of the people will not be obtained in this way and I assume that forces of an unconscious nature are at play here. Everyone probably still sees someone above them in the hierarchy and although they may fear them, they also do not want to let their full sovereignty fall victim to fear at the same time. From a more detached point of view, it seems to be a big game, one of the ongoing kind where there is never really an end to the game.
One may perhaps succumb to the wish that the people themselves will fix it the way the rulers want it, but even that is never entirely the case and, unseen and unnoticed, man ultimately does what he wants. Perhaps contrary to what he claims or represents outwardly.

There is always hope :)

The news has lied to me, again.
They made it out like the truckers were pushing back against the regulations, blocking highways and refusing to deliver stuff.
I figured they were lying, it's what they do.

Do they ever tell the full truth? I think it only lasted an hour and the states gave in. It was a pretty stupid rule to get tested so much.

We get as much tyranny as we tolerate.
Is it true that some states there are locking down over 1 or 2 cases?

Parent:Turn off the game kid
Kid:But I'm bored can we do something?
Parent:Hang on Jessica a person on the internet is wrong and I need to tell them I'm offended

:D LOL - good one.

Right, parents try to teach their children what seems appropriate to them and how they themselves have been brought up. Where it gets difficult is when they themselves live in a world that requires the use of modern media and the use of the computer was something that the parents had decided to learn or even for professional reasons, but only half agreed with it or changed their mind over the years, just not their profession. There is this dilemma with many parents that although they set an example and therefore need not be surprised that the children follow suit, in reality they wanted something else for themselves, just did not have the courage or the opportunity to change their mind. Insofar as the lifestyle of parents stems from necessity rather than passion, there is a conflict.

The (often unconscious) question parents ask themselves is: Will my child be able to use the skills he or she is learning now in the future? Which skills will possibly fall by the wayside in favour of what the children are learning now, and can I help prepare them so that they see several alternatives?

I had an experience at a parents' evening at my son's school where many parents complained about their children's poor spelling. This made me impatient and I asked: "But how many of you still write by hand, except maybe the shopping list? If we as parents don't do it, why should the children?"

My son is a computer kid and plays all day. He seems to be good at it, as far as I can tell. It's not what I had imagined, but I accept that this is the current world he lives in. Of course, we know that depending on the internet as the only source of income has its downsides. We look at this shadow with concern. So we can only hope that as parents we have done our best to convey other possibilities and points of view.

Moreover, one's own children are also educated and shaped by the rest of the world anyway. The values of one's own parents may be the most formative, but I wouldn't necessarily place a bet on it.

Wherever the state wants to govern into families, my resistance arises. It is not up to the government how I should raise my child or how many children I bring into the world.

Bingo! So many people I talk to bang on about literacy and numeracy but fail at it too. We have computers that spell and count for us. Still need to learn the basics but it is a dieing industry with automation taking over literacy and numeracy roles.

So what future will a kid that can write a 100 point essay have when a computer can do it better and faster than them?

I would not exclude one for the other. I, for example, use deepl.com for translation. Now, in the course of more than two years, I less and less need the translation program, for I have gained skills, writing in English. It became a habit to use this language. Firstly, because I like English, second, because it was the first foreign language I was taught in school.

You mostly aren't aware of your own spelling mistakes when you are not a native speaker. Yes, it's still of value to use a correct form of grammar, so that others have the chance to understand you. Using deepl. without the very basic skills I already had, I would have no chance to control whether the translation was according to what I wanted to express in particular. It takes the human mind to have the last check. I would be also bored in not having to do this, for if I could leave it all to the machine, I would deprive myself from learning and spontaneity.

Yes, an essay can be written with a program, but the genius still happens to form itself in the human spirit. Where would be otherwise the fun in doing so?

It's always an act of balancing not to overestimate the technological possibilities and not to condemn them as evil. One may wish for salvation - get rid of all "efforts" - through machine-age imaginations, but I think that's not really thought through in a philosophical kind of way. Because the interesting question is "what means effort for you?", that is being answered very differently from human to human.

Easy. Get these kids to start Play to Earn games...and it's now generating money. But yea I think its a horrible move since I think a lot of people target that Chinese market and I think it will also have a decent effect on their control over the gaming market.

Their growing social points system is indicative of their approach to control the lives by subtle changes.

What? They have a social point system?

All the black mirror episodes sounds to be coming true in china😱

Thank god that I am not born in China.

Btw, how would they stop children from playing? Like put a tracking device on every console and gaming laptop?

And the recent boom in the gaming industry had only attracted more and more kids towards gaming.

I know half a dozen kids who wants to try/doing game streaming as their side hustle on youtube etc,

Hopefully these rules stays in China only, and not spread throughout the world like the virus🙃

Don't need tracking on the system. All servers must go through China's central server as mentioned in the link attached

China is very afraid, because they are seeing how Filipinos and Vietnamese are making money without going to formal work, so they don't want the world's largest gamer population to also make these crypto games and expand the crypto market even more, so they think that cutting off the head will solve the problem, but the cryptomundi is like a hydra you cut off one head and two more take its place, but the cryptomundi is like a hydra you cut off one head and two more take its place.

It will be interesting I doubt they will be able to stop Decentralised gaming, no doubt we will see a boom in the market. Fingers crossed we get more on Hive!
