It's amazing isn't it, how the world changes from generation to generation. What one deems luxurious and exotic changes in time. A simple toilet not too long ago was exotic and luxurious. A big step up from a hole in the ground to a septic tank.

But what about animals? They once lined specialised zoos that only a select few could afford to enter increasing the value of exotic animals. If you were rich enough you might be able to afford one. Depending on what part of the planet your on a kangaroo which are in abundance here out numbering people is considered exotic.

Fruit, oh yeah. That delicious stuff like pinapples and bananas, today probably found on every kitchen bench across the globe. Availability is all year round in Australia, I can walk into any supermarket no matter the time of year and pick up an exotic fruit. Pineapples used to be quite expensive but are now affordable.

Holidays to those magical destinations on a beach in an exotic location, oh yeah. Where you rather be right now. Exotic holidays used to take months by boat out on the open sea and only available to wealthy people. Now anyone can save up for a plane ticket and head off on a luxurious holiday anywhere on the globe in a day or two depending on stop overs.

Oh boy have times changed. No longer are thing's exotic, to me exotic means rare, not within reach or a privilege. Now exotic has been replaced with luxury because anyone can aim for and achieve exotic things.

Heading off to my local zoo I can see giraffes just walking around and all for about $30. My grandparents used to get excited when we'd go to the zoo a rare occasion that didn't really happen that often because the zoo was quite expensive. Seeing a lion in a man made habitat was a big thing.

Todays consumerism has led to advancements that allow us to have everything we've ever wanted at the tips of our finger tips, for a price of course. But no longer are things exotic in my opionion, but the word has been replaced with Luxury.

What are your thoughts? Oh and by the way todays lucky phrase is banana. Of you read this, the first person to comment the lucky phrase wins a small prize!

It looks like the worlds logic is going down a river on a Banana boat He He

Exotic is a difficult word to write an article around, but you have done a really good job. Well done

Unfortunately, this "exotic wave" has been "swallowed up" by more luxurious aspects. However, I think at the right time, Mother Nature will show to the world who is really in charge.

No, COVID would not have been noticable without the PCR test craziness. We had in the past much more severe plagues.

We are actually glad that we can now get to places and have things we need at an affordable price these days compared to how it was before.

This is all true

All the things we considered exotic has been turned in to luxury instead

Everyone can afford them all they need is to get their hands on the money that pays for everything

Those fruits, those zoo memories, those times, boarding planes was an exotic act is all over

Again, I have missed the luxury phrase. I hope to win one of these days though
