First harvest of our children's Veggie Patch
Goooood day Hive Garden I hope you've all had wonderful yield in your gardens ours has been ok although I didn't put too much effort into the first iteration of our garden. Mostly because we had just moved in and the entire focus of planting our veggies was to get the kids active and involved in the learning process of how to grow your own food and where food comes from.
After this crop is all completed I'm going to dig this section up and replace the clay soil with proper garden mix but I'll be filling this area up with a rose garden.
Out of 7 corn plants we've only really had three survive and that's for a few reasons one being the soil quality and the lack of adequate sun along the fence line as this is where the afternoon sun only shines only for a short period of time.
We'll be relocating our veggie garden in the new year in a more sunny part of our garden and utilising some raised garden beds where we can continue to monitor soil quality and water drainage.
Given the soil was mainly clay it didn't provide enough loose soil for the carrots to grow in a straight way and we got these curly carrots as they tried to grow through the path of least resistance.
Not all our carrots are ready but despite their looks the kids absolutely loves the fresh crisp taste straight from garden to table and we're super excited to pull a few out.
We've got somemore growing sadly I don't believe they will all make it as carrots tend to take 60 to 80 days to be ready and we're just over that 60 day point but we'll wait and see how they go.
We do have some carrots in a pot along with out watermelon plant which, once the warm weather kicked in shot up and the carrots were doing really well.
It's looking a little weepy today due to yesterday's hot weather a whopping 36 degrees Celsius but we've given them a drink and some fertiliser so we'll see the watermelon plant bounce back within a few hours.
Our cucumber plant has two sprouts growing and it has been a late bloomer again a lot to do with sunlight and soil quality, I'm a little upset that I didn't plant this is a more warm and sunny location as I would have got a nice yield.
But as we had works planned for the backyard had we put them in another location they would have been pulled out by earth works.
Another one that has really done well and we have already been picking quite a few berries are out Strawberry plant which unfortunately I haven't been able to take to many pictures of the berries as the kids get to them before I have a chance.
I did manage to steal one for myself on the weekend and it was delicious, so juicy and a totally different flavour compared to store bought berries.
Planted in full sun along the fence line is our lemon tree and apple trees a frany smith (my fav) and a Pink Lady which the kids enjoy.
These trees I didn't muck about with and put them in the best location in our yard and I want to focus on building an edible fruit wall. I'll be heading down to get a pair tree and some peaches.
I also want to try my luck with an almond tree as growing up I have fond memories of the Almonds we would pick and remove from their shells. Such rich flavours and although a pain to remove the seeds the reward was fantastic.
Once the trees are a little more developed they will also provide some really good coverage and when the kids say "I'm hungry, what is there to eat?" I look forward to walking to the window, looking out the window and stating "There's plenty of food outside, what's wrong with it?" Or naming all the fruits and veggies in the backyard 🤣
How are all your gardens going?
Sun rays play a big role in plants because it helps the photosynthesis process. ☺️
I hope your plants will grow more. ☺️
Yeah it does and this set up was just for the interim until we got our backyard in order. I'll progress with more soon. I can't wait for the lemon tree to take hold because it's $1.50 a lemon at the shop!
I hope your lemon will blossom well. ☺️
Thank you same here, they're $1.50 per lemon these days!
You're welcome.
Always great to get ones first harvest.
Lots of wonderful memories for the kids which is great. I remember growing my own food growing up and it was a wonderful experience.
😀👍
Hello.
Could you please stop downvoting @hivewatcher account?
It has been going on for 18 months already.
I'm on a down vote trail to help secure Hive. Did you guys do something wrong? Are you still getting DHF support? My stacks not that big anymore unfortunately so it wouldn't do much to you.
Hello.
Thank you for the quick response.
This trail is Leonis private trail that he has also been using to target accounts he does not like.
He started targeting @hivewatcher account 18 months ago and exploited your account for it.
It is his private, malicious activity and has nothing to do with any abuse.
We are receiving DHF and have been receiving it for the last 2 years.
@hivewatchers account is used mostly for leaving investigation comments, posting reports and asking/confirming verifications.
@hivewatcher account is also the main HW account that is used to communicate with users.
Having it DVed looks to users like it is not a legit account and sometimes users do not take the responses from it seriously, thinking that it is spam because of DVs.
These accounts are used for different comments not to cause too much mess, in case someone wants to easily and clearly see investigation-related comments in https://hive.blog/@hivewatchers/comments
Using Kingscrown tactics now? You guys are truly the lowest of lows.
Why complain about visibility? Tell the frontends to fix that for you.
You guys are seriously nothing but scam artists finding “abuse” worth less than the pay you are getting. You deserve not to be taken seriously.
I dunno man I only have a 4c upvote/down vote and last time you guys got involved in something with my account I've been banned from pretty much ALL curation accounts from Hive.
I put a lot of work in blogs and working here and it's been 2 years and I'm still blacklisted from all of them.
You have not been on Hivewatchers' blacklist. Otherwise, you would receive a "spaminator" dust downvote on your posts as a notification.
This happened 2 years ago, are there new people at Hive Watchers? The whole thing turned to crap and I was removed from alot of Hive curation bots/accts and they have never been back.
There was an error on Hive Watchers end where I broke a community rule but it was classed as plagiarism when it wasn't. The matter was resolved but I was still banned from all the curation. Which is why I never get curation like I used to.
This is the issue with these communities, not Hivewatchers. If they removed you from some curation then I guess they must have made some judgement based on what they have seen.
It's best to talk to them and show the conversations on the blog so they can make up a judgement.
Downvoting Hivewatchers is unlikely going to bring back lost curators and is more likely to attract negative votes.
Ha? No it was based on your actions and posts about me and there was never an apology or an announcement from you guys to address it. I've moved on from it all.
I am unsure how I will attract down votes? I'm not sure if that was a threat to me or not but you guys literally destroyed my accounts reputation with people and now you're saying if I don't stop down voting (which I'm not I'm on a DV trail that helps secure the network like you guys do) I will get down voted?
Then why are you guys earning money from it? I am doing it for free even after the fact you guys got it wrong and had me blacklisted and blocked from curation.
I'm not all that fussed about what happened 2 years ago, I've moved on and enjoy the friendships I have here.
There was no need to apologise as Hivewatchers and community comments were correct. We did not make any mistakes or errors in investigations:

Wtf r u on about? Correct? I have a license for canva. Im pretty certain paying for use is not plagiarism thats how the world works and what we do in business to. Again Hive Watchers inventing rules?
Why are you once again choosing to focus me?

Here guys, maybe you should update your account images. Happy to have taught you something new today. You can be cheap and just get the free version if you want.

You guys have been down voting me. I just saw my posts below. I thought you were supposed to be fighting abuse.
Did you do it to others?
The account "steemcleaners" is a private account and is not related to the scope of the Hivewatchers work. It belongs to a few people although some hivewatchers have access to it.
It must have been a reward disagreement by someone who has access to "steemcleaners" account.
Probably related to your content disagreement that has been going on "hivewatcher" account.
From what the recent steemcleaners downvote has been retracted.
Nonsense.
It's the only way you can downvote people you don't like.
They are just using intimidation tactics.
Lil Miss is all grown up now, sooner or later (aside from cooking) she'll be taking over your garden too!
Hahaha I certainly hope so! Will be good to see her lead
