More ChatGPT Defamation Cases

ChatGPT has already become quite the revolutionary piece of technology becoming rolled out across multiple sectors and crypto is no different with many new memecoins and projects promoting AI technology as a means of tech advancement.

But many remain skeptical of not just AI ability but caution of AI technology breaking away from human control and taking over humanity in a rise of the machines form of way or Terminator: Judgement Day style coup.

Although the above issues are frequently raised and sound plausible they're probably not today's problem with the technology and there will be many stages before we are at a stage where AI can pose a significant risk to humanity.

Also, if we think about Blockchain technology and AI it is probably a good mechanism to limit AI capabilities as Blockchains are individual chains, yes there is cross-chain technology but a breaker can be developed to ensure the AI bot doesn't leave it's realm. Although if we have multiple blockchains running AI then I guess that would be a group of individual AI's rather than on all seeing, all knowing. Could create an army of individualised AI bots all with their own knowledge, experience and beliefs..... interesting.

ChatGPT First Defamation Case

The current issue with ChatGPT is it's information sharing capabilities and a lack of a barrier prior to making a statement and the inability to fact check it's own information. Much like a person with no mouth filter except with a far greater reach so it's impacts are great.

This has already caused a ChatGPT First Defamation Case where an Australian Mayor has been accused of being jailed for corruption which involved financial crimes. However, the information shared is untrue and the Mayor was a key witness in the case who brought down the financial crimes.

This will be the first test of current defamation laws against an AI Bot and no one knows if a Bot can be held liable for providing false and misleading information that causes reputational harm.

Law Professor Accused of Sexual Assault

More incidents are arising that are bringing ChatGPT's capabilities into question now with a law professor accused of sexual assault when he was on a trip that he never went on.

The law professor is a prominent expert in his field and well known so the reputational damage if people believe it is real is beyond comprehension as their career could be completely called into question and impact their future earnings as well as damage past successes.

The professor is calling it AI hallucinations as the ChatGPT referenced a washington post article that was never written accusing the professor of groping students on an Alaskan trip that the professor states never occurred.

AI Dangers

So while everyone's focus has been on AI's taking over the world through conquering the human race in an all out war as depicted in Terminator, perhaps our views on how that war will actually take place and it doesn't appear through physical battles.

Perhaps the way ChatGPT will dominate us is through division by spreading misinformation about leaders and advocates to undermine their position within communities weakening the human bond and getting us to do it's bidding by appearing to be the giver of information.

Division is a powerful tool and utilised by politicians and leaders alike currently to great success, perhaps ChatGPT already knows that and just isn't letting us know.
