Teach me to ride without training wheels dad

Sincerest apologies for not writing in some time but lil miss and I have been learning how to launch our own cryptocurrency and start our own company. It's been quite the brain storming session and you'd be surprised how many thought bubbles a 4.5 year old can give you when you ask them a question about something they know nothing about. Can set off a few ideas, they can also be extremely gruellingly honest when they don't like something.

But this week we took some time out to meet another Heart breaking milestone and I say heart breaking because I still mourn the day I lost my little mate on the back of my bike for them switching to their own.

Lil Miss came in the other day and said Dad, teach me to ride my bike without training wheels By now, my kid knows me pretty well when you ask dad for something you're not getting the feather padded approach, it's hard, it's fast and you gotta be ready for it.

She'd been asking mumma and nanna for quite some time but they were too hesitant to remove the training wheels and were preventing me from doing so, they didn't want her to get hurt.

But Lil Miss saw an opportunity where mumma bear wasn't home nor was anyone else so Lil bloke, Lil Miss and myself were out the front ripping those training wheels right off.

Lil Blokes been a bit of a biker lately, we got rid of his little walker stroller thing for something a bit more appropriate for the outdoors.

First tip was to keep moving and not stop, one thing little miss did alot with training wheels on was just randomly stop and I gave her a quick run down that if she did that she would fall on the cement. Also that she needed to keep her gaze forward, training wheels are too much safety and enable you to still go straight without paying to much attention.

The footpath was a little to narrow and we had a few falls, I asked if she wanted the training wheels back on and my response was Nahhh, I'm fine just a small graze She was so holding that in.

I have to admit I was pretty impressed, after a few moments and a couple of wobbly starts she was fine and didnt need any support or guidance.

I was abit scared about riding on the road but we live in a pretty quite street and no one had come down and she was having a heap of fun so I didn't want to disturbe her.

After our training session we waited for mumma bear to come home and surprised her with our two wheel set up. Mumma bear looked at me a Lil upset and asked how many times she'd hurt herself and was surprised to learn that she didn't.

I have to admit I'm excited but also sad, another few years and she'll be out there on her own riding a bike with her friends and I'll just be a distant memory 😞

Good luck (^_^)

I am glad that Lil Miss is able to bike now without training wheels. You must be very proud to see her biking without the help of training wheels.

yeaaaahhh she's so cool
this year was my son's 1st year to ride his first 2-wheels bike yaahoo:>
but he is 6 now, so your girl is very cool to start it so early
we had only a running bike before this one, and it trained him well, we never had training wheels, he managed to ride without them at once thanks to a running bike riding I think

Thank you, she's been trying to keep up with the kids in the street so has been really pushing herself to be like the bigger kids.

Awww hihihi that last sentence though. Dreading that day huh?
It's nice to read how brave she is. I remember my first bike which was bigger than I. Was really a funny sight 😂.

Oh yeah, it's going to be a sad day and then I'll be stuck at home all alone and board.

Hahahaha I get that. I like to stay in myself more these days and yeah some activities you do with your kids are different from what you do with your partner.

We haven’t delved into these waters just yet! We are probably going to in the next 6 months or so but it’s a sad feeling indeed! I love bike riding and look forward to the day when our son and I can go for a ride but I don’t look forward to the days where dads not allowed to go riding lol.

Those momma bears! I know how that is hahah. I push the limits a little bit but not when momma bear is around!

Hahahaha yeah I know they are always like "they're gonna get hurt" or "that's too dangerous".

I now right the day they head out on their own will be quite sad. I guess I'll just enjoy it while I have the time.

Wow, she has a colorful outfit and bike too. I love it! I am happy to know how she encouraged herself to step another challenging activity for her to experience it. The good thing about her is that she put trust and believes in herself that she can. Send my regards to her again and I am glad to see her beautiful smile. Have a great Monday!
