Alright ladies and Gentlemen of @liketu gather around while I spin a yarn and this one is quite worth it, for today we made history!

I am not sure how many of you are involved in politics and/or if you know the internal workings on how policy gets voted upon in internal ballots and then implemented as party platform and than rolled out as election committments through government agencies.

To do that requires caucusing, negotiations et al but not all things often make the cut which is kind of what was happening to us. Except we're an established internal policy committee with an added kick, we can submit urgency resolutions at the end of our report. This is a power that often isn't utilised due to the fact that urgency resolutions don't have a high success rate.

For us, something that is quite important was rasing the age of criminal consent as in Victoria it is current 10 and children older than 10 go to jail. When we send children to jail we set them upto fail and to a life of crime. I undertand that we can not save everyone, but we can still save many. Children need a safe home, a nurturing environment, school and support. Not prison.

This law also negatively impacts Indigenous children as the justice system often isn't applied equally and as a result we have a large cohort of first nations people's children in prison with nowhere to go.

Soooooooooo we kinda, maybe executed our power on the committee to move an urgency motion to raise the age of criminal consent.

We'll a few more things happened from there and I won't go into too much detail but I am happy to report that we are now raising the age of criminal consent to 14 in this term of Government!

Congratulations and well done to all involved.

I also had the privlidge of scrutineering for two Assembly members and both were re-elected to the First Nations People's Assembly of Victoria. A Euphoric event to say the least!

Congratulations to all involved and well done.
