This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Dragons Unit and therefore I decided to feature the Carnage Titan.

A Chaos Legion legendary level monster from the Dragon unit at level 1:

  • Estimated cost: $7.989
  • Melee attack: 2
  • Speed: 3
  • Armor: 7
  • Health: 8
  • Reach ability: Melee attack Monsters with the Reach ability may attack from the second position on the team.
  • Double Strike ability: Monster attacks twice each round.

My favorite weekly battle challenges are when they feature monsters from the Dragon unit. Most of the monsters from the Dragon unit are so helpful and provide a lot of utility in battles. For this week's battle challenge, I went with Carnage Titan. The Carnage Titan may not hit hard, but boy, it can definitely take a few punches and still be around to do damage. I prefer to play the Carnage Titan more as a support melee tank and allow it to proc its Reach ability from position two in battle. However, if it does land up in position one, it has enough armor and health to aid its survivability. The Double Strike ability also provides extra melee damage when procced.

I am featuring this battle on my alt account as I am trying to complete a Chaos Legion set on that account. Even though this battle on paper seemed like an easy victory with me playing an epic summoner and two dragon legendaries, it went closer than I would have liked. The initial strategy of having the first and last monster filled with sacrificial worked. At the same time, the middle was taken up by the two legendaries dealing most of the damage. However, my opposition went for double Sneak and one Opportunity monster, so he had three monsters attacking from the backline. Nonetheless, Carnage Titan survivability was able to feature by absorbing loads of damage and allowing Zyvax Vuul to proc its Recharge ability twice and unleashing too much damage. Overall, a win is a win but a lot closer than I would've liked.

Do you like the Carnage Titan? Why or why not?

Dragon unit monsters are always extra enjoyable as they tend to have great utility and can be real difference makers in battles. The Carnage Titan is no different; however, it won't be pulverizing lineups with damage, but it makes up for that by being able to take a lot of damage. I am actively looking to add Carnage Titan to my alt and main account as I know these kinds of monsters will always be featuring heavily in my strategies. Alternatives to Carnage Titan will be challenging to find as it's the only monster that has both Reach and Double Strike ability as a combo. If you are looking for cheaper alternatives, only the Manticore may be cheaper, but it is only a partial alternative. The Vigilator is another Dragon unit monster, but it's almost eight times more than the Carnage Titan.
