CCC's Street Art Contest #303-Venezuelan Pride 🇻🇪 [ENG-ESP]

I’m joining this week’s street mural contest with this one I found in “La Pastora” while I was traveling in Caracas. Walking through that area is a real visual treat because everything is so colorful and there’s an incredible variety of urban art. In this mural, not only are Dr. José Gregorio Hernández and Mother Carmen Rendiles highlighted, but the artist also included other figures that I couldn’t recognize at first glance, since they were portrayed in their later years.
At the time, there was no one around to ask who they were, so I had to do some research online until I figured out the identities of the other three. If we look from right to left, we see a figure who appears to be the composer “Chelique Sarabia,” though I confess I’m not 100% sure it’s him; next is the singer María Rodríguez; and in the other corner, from left to right, wearing red gloves, is the boxer Francisco “Morochito” Rodríguez, remembered for his many gold medals. The title of the mural, “Venezuelan Pride,” serves as a reminder of the legacy of faith and talent that these figures left behind in our country.
This piece was painted in October 2025, as preparations were underway at that time for events honoring José Gregorio Hernández and Madre Carmen Rendiles; as a result, many building facades were restored and numerous murals were created simultaneously. I imagine that, given the hectic pace of those days, the artists simply forgot to include their credits.
So if anyone here knows who the artist or artists were who painted this beautiful tribute, please let us know.

¡Hola amigos!
Me sumo hoy al concurso de murales callejeros de esta semana , con éste que encontré en"La Pastora" mientras estuve de viaje en Caracas. Caminar por esa zona es un verdadero espectáculo visual porque todo está lleno de color y hay una variedad increíble de arte urbano. En este mural, no sólo resaltan al doctor José Gregorio Hernández y a la Madre Carmen Rendiles, sino que el artista incluyó a otros personajes que a primera vista no logré reconocer, ya que fueron retratados en su etapa de vejez.
En ese momento, no había nadie cerca a quien preguntarle quienes eran, así que me tocó ponerme a investigar en internet hasta dar con la identidad de los otros tres. Si los vemos de derecha a izquierda, nos encontramos con una figura que apunta ser del compositor musical "Chelique Sarabia", aunque confieso que no estoy cien por ciento segura de si es él, seguido está la cantante María Rodríguez y en la otra esquina, de izquierda a derecha, con sus guantes rojos el boxeador Francisco "Morochito" Rodríguez, recordado por sus varias medallas de oro. El titulo del mural "Orgullo Venezolano" es un recordatorio de un legado de fe y talentos que dejaron estos personajes en nuestro país.
Esta obra fue pintada en el mes de octubre de 2025, ya que para esa fecha, se estaba preparando todo para los eventos relacionados con José Gregorio Hernández y la Madre Carmen Rendiles, por lo que se restauraron muchas fachadas y se hicieron muchísimos murales al mismo tiempo. Me imagino que, por la dinámica de esos días, a los artistas se les pasó colocar sus créditos.
Así que si alguien por aquí sabe quién o quiénes fueron los artistas que pintaron este hermoso homenaje lo hagan saber.

I don't think this mural has a specific artist; I did some research and I think—though I'm not sure—it was painted by the city government. But one thing's for sure: it's a great work of art. As for whether it's Chelique Sarabia, I'm not sure either, although as a certain person would say, “It looks just like him.”

Hola, Gabo! Mira, con razón buscaba y buscaba y no salía nada del autor. Seguro fue así, iniciativa de la alcaldía, pero les quedó mundial. Y lo de Chelique... jajaja yo tardé un mundo en identificarlo justamente por la barba, porque me puse a buscar y no le vi fotos así por ningún lado. Nos dejó con la duda, pero el parecido está ahí 🤣 Gracias por el apoyo
