A Time I Took For Granted And Regretted

If I could add another name, it will be procrastination. While that has helped me do things at my own pace and work better, it had also made me miss opportunities that I shouldn't have missed if I had fought procrastination. Yeah, I take procrastination to be a form of managing time poorly as it's always about "I'll get it done soon or later" which tends to make me delay on something I need to get done and I somehow waste the time for something else not even worth it at times.

When I decide to keep to time or use my time well, I do but there was a time I can't easily forget when I wasted the time I was given... I literally lived like I had all the time to do what was required of me then. The time back then was managed way too poorly now that I think about it but while I was going about handling it poorly, I never felt I was wrong as I thought it was going to right anyways.

My mum and my uncle had just registered me for a program and I can still remember how clearly and serious they were about me coming out with a very good result. I can still remember how strongly I made it clear to them that I'll do well in the program and give them what they expected of me. It felt like it was going to be an easy feat for me as I had that strong will to do well.

Before the program, I was way more studious than I am now... But along the line, I began to take things for granted and felt like I could do well in my exams with the little I could do close to exam days. At the times I was free from other activities, I don't study as I kept postponing my study time. It continued like that until the exam came, I wrote it and I didn't get a good or bad result... I was just on the average, an average that didn't give the course that I wanted.

I remember how sad I was and how I even cried about it because I knew I was the one who caused it for myself, mum was not happy about it with me but she didn't want me to feel too bad about it. That didn't help me as I am reminded of my bad time management when I used the average result to get an admission. I could have gotten a better result, studied a better course in school and become a graduate to have a promising profession if I didn't manage my time poorly.

While I do tend to think of it that way, I also feel grateful as I've also wondered what guarantee are there that I would be alive and okay if I didn't make that mistake. It was a mistake but that mistake has taught me to be more time managing and also brought me this far in life, and even though it isn't the course I wanted, I'm a graduate of it when some who got the same average result with me couldn't get into a university back then.

Time management is one thing I've learned over the years from one situation to another, I'd say Hive has also contributed to that aspect of my life... I may not be the best in time management but I'm way better than I was years back because I learnt from the lessons taught... I learnt time management

Definitely there are two sides of a coin, life most times isn't really unfair as we claim, we just ended up on the wrong side with our choices

It's always painful when you know you could do more but because of time mismanagement, you ended up with a result below your standard but then you still corrected yourself and has been doing well ever after.

Well, you're right.

We usually feel there's time to read for example, not until it knocks on our door and probably knocks us off.

Good piece here

This is one of the major reasons why students fail. They always think that there is still time, but before they know what is happening, time will fly.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful post with us today.

It has happened to me and I've learnt my lessons, hopefully more students won't need to experience it before they realize what needs to be done.

I understand you perfectly because I was multiple times a victim of procrastination especially during exams period.
