My Introduction To HiveBookclub - All About Me As A Reader

I want to thank @iskafan for inviting me to this contest, I wouldn't have known that there's a community that encourages readers until now. This is my first time knowing about this community and I'm honored to make my first post as an entry for the community contest.

Maybe I should introduce myself a little specifically in the aspect of READING.

My name is Merit, a young lady who can be said to have been born with books on her hands 😂 I mean I grew up loving to read even to the extent of loving the smell of books. Thanks to my dad who heap up old books and never fail to update his shelf with new books, I just keep reading the next book after another.

One obvious thing I've gained in reading books is writing, I've grown my writing skills through learning how authors organized their books to catch my attention till the end. Reading is so my thingy and I'll share my reading style using the questions given from the contest.

What is your favorite time or place to read?

pexels-photo-7556613.jpeg
Source

I read almost anytime of the day, even at a time I'm supposed to be eating or sleeping but my favorite time to read would be in the early time of the day - Very early in the morning as an "Early to rise" kind of person that I am.

At this time, I could finish a full book or a huge part of a book I'm reading because I'm more relaxed and not in a hurry to do anything.

My favorite place to read is anywhere that's quiet, calm and smells nice 😂 and that can only be my room or a library of just books... Yeah, I love the smell of books especially old ones.

What makes you enjoy reading?

pexels-photo-3769732.jpeg
Source

A lot of things makes me enjoy reading.

The relaxation it gives

I read a lot of times to relax my mind from any worries I could be having. Where I feel more relaxed reading is lying down on my bed while reading... That feeling is priceless 🥰

The Knowledge it gives

I know the sole reason for reading is to add to one's knowledge so I can also say I enjoy reading because I feel a step ahead for every book I read with an understanding of it.

The fun and thrill it gives

Fun and thrill are mostly found in the story type of books, interesting stories with different emotions but I'm yet to read the one that would make me cry though. I enjoy reading them because I do have a lot of fun from thrilling and suspenseful books.

Reading also takes me out of my reality most times and I find myself having beautiful imaginations from my present and it does feels really good.

Do you like to read outdoors, before bed or on the bus on your way to work?

pexels-photo-1196338.jpeg
Source

Outdoors, yes only if it's a quiet outdoor 😂 how can I understand what I'm reading when I'm in a noisy or distractive place? I'd prefer to stay in a quiet place to read. So that also means reading in the bus is out of it except I'm reading stuffs online in my phone.

I remember the last time I tried reading a book while walking because I was hooked to one chapter, I kicked a stone and my book fell into a dirty water close by 😒 I decided then not to read along the way again.

Do you focus on character development, thoughtful messages or the level of intrigue a plot generates in you?

pexels-photo-1313809.jpeg
Source

I've read a lot of books and I always find one thing to love about them. The different genres in books makes it hard for me to pick a focus, I just flow with any genre I find and enjoy reading them.

But if I'm to pick a focus, I think I'll prefer the motivational, inspirational and character development type of books which help me to build my mind and attitude towards life.

One of the books I'm reading now is "How to get from where you are to where you want to be" written by Jack Canfield and it focuses on ways to be successful. I'm still on it but I've learnt a lot from the writer, felt like the book was written for me.

With all that said, reading is one of my way of learning and I can only find ways to improve on my reading skill and keep the fire burning. I think I'll try to make good use of this community to also help me remember to read books and also update myself with the recent books.

This is my entry for the Community contest #3 and I would like to invite @peaq and @chincoculbert to also participate.

Thanks for reading!!!

Sincerely, I didn't know you love reading. I haven't read any post of yours that is centered around reading. I just went with my intuition(or my heart if that's how you want to put it). Lol and behold, you are a book warm just as the rest of us. Thanks for joining the challenge, I wish you luck in the contest sweetheart

Ómo...you even love the smell of books??

Lol, who wouldn't, new books have this smell that makes you want to eat it up. But then I don't like the smell of old books, it has this "don't read me" kinda smell but then when you finally open it to read you'll gain a lot of knowledge.

This is a wonderful initiative, I love the fact that we're being encouraged to read. I know a lot of people in this generation find it hard to read and that's a problem. Reading gives you knowledge, Experience and exposes you, including it allows you enter the mind of the reader. Isn't that amazing??..of course it is.

Thanks for the invite my dear..I'm looking forward to joining the contest..

I've never been able to read a book walking, I imagine the unpleasant experience of dropping the book in dirty water :(

I also like the smell of books and the smell of old books reminds me of a huge closet my grandmother had full of old books. Good luck in the contest :)

Hello, how good that you, father, instilled reading from a very young age, reading gives you a lot of knowledge, it is a way of learning and studying in a self-taught way.

You are very lucky to have a family that loves books, that has made your love of reading come naturally. I can imagine how bad you felt when that book fell into dirty water for you, but good readers are like that, they get so into reading that they forget about the rocks in the road.

I really enjoyed reading your writing, dear @merit.ahama. You did an excellent posting. Be well.

The smell of books LOL. That gave me a memory. I used to smell books to tell how old it is. I'm a book weirdo.

I share your sentiments on outdoor reading. You won't catch me doing it. I need absolute concentration when I read.

Good luck with the contest.

Okay I'm not going to ask 🤔 fine I will ask, do you go sniffing the books before you read them or afterward 🤣🤣🤣🤣 your funny sha.

I can just imagine myself trying to relax in bed early in the morning to read lol a lot of feathers would fly especially as the youngest with certain morning chores set in stone I must get through each morning lol.

Before I go let me show my support on behalf of that book that fell in the pile of dirty water 😇 got to love personal lessons learned 😉 good luck on the contest.

It was lovely that your dad got you into reading. My mom is also the major force in my life that got me into reading 😊 I remember her bringing books at home and I'd devour them and get lost in the stories. Today we swap books and talk to each other about it afterwards.

Lovely post. Good luck!

I like that you are building your mind with the type of books you are reading. Canfield doesn't sound familiar, I would have to look him up.

I read almost anytime of the day, even at a time I'm supposed to be eating

PS. you are alone on this one 😄
