Possessed To Become - Inkwell Prompt #90

(Edited)

It was Monday and the second week of my new job as a chef assistant, I mean I was employed as a dish washer at a popular and big restaurant owned by one of the most talented chef who I had always wished to become like even though I was the worse cook.

As the introverted and reserved young girl I was, I walked faced down towards my new work place and got busy worrying about my house rent getting expired. I knew the house owner will throw my things out any day sooner but I was hoping to get my first pay before it happened.

As usual, I resumed my work washing the dishes like my life depended on it and I couldn't stop admiring how the chefs were doing their thing so elegantly and sending appetising aroma in the air to grant customer orders. My boss saw me staring in awe and asked if I was interested in learning and I almost screamed with a "Yes".

The next day, I was supposed to begin private lessons with my Boss which got me so excited as I waited for the bus at it's bus stop. Within a split second, I felt like I wasn't myself anymore but shook off the thought of a spirit possessing me. I stood up with giving out some dance moves which was very much unlike me.

I got to work and the first department I found myself was the cooking department. Every other chef were amazed and speechless at the way I handled the meal so professionally, I even came up with a new recipe that the customers fell in love with. My Boss came around and was shocked to see the shy girl who wanted to take free lessons showing rare talents he had never seen.

I knew I was being insane, I wanted to stop myself and get back to my dish washing but I just couldn't and it kept on like that all through that day. My Boss complimented me and asked that I never changed back to that shy girl I was. I got scared but happy too as I knew I wasn't being myself but I was being extraordinary with a talent I've always wished to have.

A week and some days, the restaurant has taken a total different shape and it got into news and magazine of how amazing a chef there is, that chef happened to be me who had never imagined a life that popular. I wished for it never to end so I decided to take record of everything I was doing awaiting any day the spirit that possess me would leave.

And it really happened, I woke up one cold morning some months later and I felt my real self back and got scared that things was about to go back to how it was and I hated it. Just as I was about to get into my shell and shed tears, I heard a voice in my head.

You got this, Lara
I've been with you long enough to make you better and be the woman you had always wanted to be...
A voice that sounded so much like my elder sister said softly.

Zara, is that you?
How come you could talk to me? Where are you?
I asked in tears

No need to know all about that, but be aware that I'll be leaving earth to rest finally and I want you to be better than I had tried to make you be... Zara said as her voice faded into thin air.

I cried loudly for sometime, thought about all my sister said and got up more determined and everything played out well like it had been when she possessed me. My boss proposed to me out of love and I accepted, my life became even more adventurous and I lived a different person than I had been.

A beautiful rise from grass to grace. Sometimes all we need is just one push and the rest falls in place.
