But can you help others grow into their potential when you haven't done that for yourself? I'm wondering if it's possible to lead when you need to be led first?

In principle, yes, in one way or another everyone is a leader.
At the same time, one can not give what you don't have; if you know what I mean.
Yeah, I thought as much.
In essence, we should learn to teach others.
Build in public. Be open to experiment and invite others to join you on the journey. I launched into podcasting and create live podcasting events and even created National Podcast Post Month have zero clue whether those things would work out. Because each on of those things was an experiment, I was learning at the same time as anyone who participated. There are plenty of experiments that did not work out. But how did I know which ones would have staying power and which ones would fizzle out? The only way to know is to do.
So, I invite you to consider experimentation as a way to lead while learning.

I'll consider this, I've been holding back from actually "doing" and just learning and learning. Thank you for this idea.
