They Are Justified!!!

No, they are not!
I mean yes, they are Justified!

Okay, I've thought so much about this and that's how I've been going round the answer like a little baby on a swing.

Just when I would conclude that such situations can't be justified in any way, another thought comes in and I'll be like "They are Justified of course".

Well, how about we talk about this to be sure of what the concluding answer will be? I'm not going to write from experience (I've never been an activist except if being a marketer counts as one though 😅) but I've witness lots of activists movements in my country (my state to be precise).

Too bad, if I'm to write about the outcome of all the activists movement I've witness... No way! It isn't Justified.

The actions these people take during or after the protest can be really scary sometimes but I've also witness one where the protesters were pushed to the extreme but shouldn't they have known it was leading to that direction?

No doubt, the activities of these set of people can be really disturbing to the general public but I don't know if you're having the same thought as I am about this....

Would it be disturbing if it is about or will affect you positively?

What I'm asking is, would you see a protest as a disturb or causing nuisance if it will be beneficial to you? What if it is a peaceful protest? Aren't some peaceful protest disturbing too?

I'll say, the justification or no justification comes in depending on the situation of each protest. There are protests that shouldn't have started at all but still did, most of which ends in causing confusion and more worse, loss of lives or properties.

Two years back, it was all over the news about a protest that most of my country was involved in with the aim of ending police brutality in the country... I'm still in the country right now and the only memory from that past protest is the blood shed and the increase in crime since after that day.

That protest didn't solve anything, the situation only got worse... Causing so much nuisance to the public.

Not Justified!!!

Yes, they had a good reason at first but no, they played the cards wrongly... The aim, idea and moves didn't match so it was all pointless.

Recently, there's the Asuu (Academic Staff Union Of University) strike protest from Students begging the government to pay up what they are owing lecturers so studies can resume, nothing is done about it yet.

I see this protest going wrong if nothing is done soon enough because a lot of students are complaining and wishing to resume school.

Not only that, crimes of the youth will be on the increase soon if they are not kept busy with school and studies... Too bad, the government aren't bothered about all that. They will just wait to get the bad youths behind bars without doing the major things they ought to do to stop or reduce the crimes.

With these kinds of situations where actions are not taken, what would the masses do? Go for activism with the hope that the pressure they'll give will make the government do something about it.

This is Justified!!!

But like I asked in a post I read minutes ago, what if a peaceful protest that had a goal and a good strategy ends up as a disturb or violent to the public?

Let me ask here, is there any protest that ends well?

If yes, I'll say I'm yet to witness or hear or read about one but if no! I guess you may want to agree that there is no protest that is justified unless it somehow finds it way to get what it wants and ends it not so peacefully.

Sometimes the government needs these protest to get their hands working on the problem presented to them... I wish they don't have to let situations get to that extent. Even in working sectors, CEOs and directors allow such to happen before they take actions... This is just a way of causing problems for ourselves (Not so wise).

So if I'm to conclude on an answer to the question

Are Activists Who Inconvenience The General Public Justified?

I'll say, yes but it depends on the cause and aim of the protest. And that means not all protests are justified. I hope I was able to make a point in my response... This was so not an easy topic to write on but I tried my best to give a response.

Thanks for reading!!!

Talking about this, I heard that students who came out to protest about the recurrent strike action are being maltreated by the security operatives. In a sane world, something like this should never be happening

Imagine students who are protesting for the sake of their future. Yet, security operatives opened fire on them. Wow! I can't even speak out loud about that. It's a shameful stuff. Very unbelievable.

Have you also heard of IPOB and their stuff in southeast? Those ones claim to be activists yet they are killing people who are supposed to benefit from existence of Biafria. They have already missed their step and they can't stop themselves. They are a bunch of insane tyrants.

So, in a nutshell, it depends on the country. Over here in Nigeria, such act of activism doesn't yield result. We did it in school because we paid for electricity but we were not getting electricity.

Guess what? Every freakin student was forced to go home and spend 3 months at home. While coming back, everyone was forced to pay #10,000 as reparation fee. Haha. Whereas, the only thing that was damaged were a few light bulbs. Lol.

Funny enough, those that did this protest are not upto 5% of the overall population of students but everyone including those that were doing Industrial Training were forced to pay for damages. Stuff like that is a waste of time over here.

What an insane country we live in! I can't even start imagining the situation about the students protesting and they are being shot at... Too bad really.

Nigeria has gotten to the stage where protest are a big threat and not taken serious by the government.

God help us... Your school with electricity scam though 😏

Yes, it was not an easy topic at all, but it certainly provokes thought. I think you debated your points well and concluded in the only possible way, reasonably. Nice post.
Thank you for posting in the EcoTrain ❤️🤗💕

Sure, this is a good point you have made and you addressed the question in the right way. As I also said in some of the posts I have read, activists inconvenience to the public can or cannot be justified depending on the cause and aim of the protest. With the examples of the Endsars and Asuu strike, you have a valid point to air your thought. Thanks for sharing.

Obviously 80% of the protest in this country if not all had a bad ending, it usually result to shoot out, loss of life and properties and so on... Sometimes some activist overplay or overdo, why will you be protesting and then suddenly start looting shops owned by a fellow citizen...

The government too on the other hand should stop turning protest to massacre.

It's from both ends, I wish things could be settled before it gets out of hand.

Not an easy topic to take a stand with

But well... The answer to a great lies on the question,
What is the aim of the protest and what does it tend to achieve?

Bringing it home to our country, I haven't witnessed a protest that yielded any meaningful result but then, how then should the citizens talk? Which other method should they apply?
Or should they fold their hands to the wrongs the country is doing on a regular?
Things should never get to the extent of protesting but then the government doesn't want to do what they should do and the government isn't to be blamed alone.

Here in NY school, protesting every new week of every month has now been normalised, why?
Because the school authorities waitf for us to protest before they pay the EEDC bills
Too sad
Very sad indeed

If we look at Nigeria's situation as an example it'll be a hopeless case because the protest never lead anywhere. Infact, it seems to harden the heart of the govt. I don't know for other countries but protests over here have never done any good. All they do is push these power hungry old men to take brutal and drastic measures

It is a hard topic to write about because it is not so easy to say yes or no. There are many good arguments supporting both sides if well argued.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. :)
