Healing Herbs ~ Making Body Soap With Scent Leaves

Hello Natural Medicine community!
It's my first post here and hopefully, won't be my last as I have come to learn again that applying herbs to one's daily living is another way to having good health while keeping a young and good body skin

I recently visited mum at another state and it's been from one DIY to another from her, I couldn't stop watching to see how she does them and this video is one of the proof I have. Mum was like "Why buy them expensive when you could make them at very cheap rate?"

Considering how expensive bathing soaps are nowadays and also that some aren't so good for one's skin, it makes sense that she made researches to create her own soap with recipes that would give her the skin care she wants.

From her many researches, she found a recipe that is good enough and have been using it on her skin for a while now. The result is nice from what I see when I visited and I'm hoping it would be good on my skin as well.

She calls it "Native & scent soap"

I guess it is from the ingredients she used and the name doesn't matter so long it works fine for her. I made sure to get the whole process of how she makes the soap in case I'll go back home to make mine.

Ingredients Used:

  • Scent (Basil) leaves
  • Native (black) soap
  • Clean water
  • Mortar and pestle

The process is well shown in the video so do well to watch till the end. But for some explanations, I'll share more in writing.

After peeling off the leaves from the stem, the leaves were pounded till it was smooth enough. The native soup was added to the smooth scent leaves to form a harmonized mixture.

It actually took a lot of time to achieve this. Mum says, there is the strong made black soap and also the softer ones. She used the strong one here and she says it's much better as it makes the soap lasts longer in the bathroom for use.

At this stage of molding them to small shapes, I think it is where anyone can get creative to make even more beautiful shapes. Mum thought of a lot of shapes but would need some equipments to make them happen. So for now, she uses any shape in making them.

The process isn't so complex or hard to follow through but it needs some patience in mixing the ingredients. In the end, you'll get to save a lot of expenses with this cheap made but healthy bathing soap.

I've started using it on my "very rough" face as recommended by mum. I've seen little changes since when I started using it and I'm looking forward to more improvements on my facial skin. Do try out this herbal recipe if you want organic, cheap and healthy bathing soap.

I hope the process serves you well as I've shown in the video, let me know what you think about this recipe or any herbal soaps you know of.

Natural things are always better though, cus some of those chemicals we're applying on our skins are very harmful.

The Soup looks like Dudu-osun soap but anyways home made stuffs are actually the best and I love them because it actually brings out the industriousness in you and the creativity to create meaningful things out of nothing. Thanks for sharing this whole process and I hope to make it some day.

What an interesting way to make soap, in an artisanal way, with your own hands.

Regarding the native soap that you use, in my country, Venezuela, there is a similar one, and it is called earth soap. It is a good soap that is rarely available now, because it is handmade, they hardly make it anymore.

It would be great if you included the quantities of the ingredients you used.

Nice to see you here. Greetings.

It's getting hard to find hand made things that we once had very available before now. I was so glad I found this way to make one.

How did I skip that? Or maybe I felt there was nothing much to share about the quantities since the sizes differ here when you want to buy.

Thanks for stopping by and the curation, it's very much appreciated.
