Fixing A Moroccan Lamp - If the boys can do it...The girls can do it, too!
Hello Ladies of Hive and all Hivers!
Welcome to my blog, hope all of you are fine! Today I will be sharing about fixing my moroccan lamp. I had been out of touch the last weeks because of the stressy days we have had repairing our house here in Andalusia. We´ve been away for 22 months because of the pandemic and when we came, there were many works to do , some repairs, maintenance of the interior as well as the exterior. The painter finished painting the facade of the house, we built new drainage , painted the interior of the 2 bedrooms. Oh my, the repairs were endless since we came back last October. Thank God the succulent garden had been ok during our absence. The plants were not watered, only the rain took care of its growth.
Solving the problem...
I had trouble with changing the bulb of this lamp. I stood on the bed to try changing the bulb. The problem was, the old one that got busted was impossible to take out of the lamp base as the bulb got stuck. I am aware that if I keep on turning the bulb it might break andglass splitters might get on my face. Standing on bed, I kept on outbalancing myself because the mattress is soft. What to do?
The lamp connection...
And so, I moved the bed and got me a ladder. I de-installed the lamp, took out the wire connections. I forgot to turn the fuse down. Aas a kid of 9 years old, I experimented holding the plug of an electric fan, half inserted on the socket, I touched the wire and got electrocuted. It was a test but abrupt and nothing happened but gained experience that one should never do what I did. Of course, I didn´t tell anyone about that episode. Since I was a teenager, I used to change bulb in my parent´s house so I knew what I was doing the other day.
Warning: If you ladies are to do this, be sure to turn off the fuse in order not to be electrocuted.
The bulb really stuck to the lampbase so I had to apply force. My two hands hardly got inside of the lamp because the opening below is small but I managed to enter both hands and so one hand holding the lamp base and the other hand holding the bulb, I turned the bulb counter-clockwise until finally the bulb moved and I was able to take it out and insert a new one.
When the buld was replaced, I have adjusted the cable length and put the stopper back in the metal crown so that the cable is fixed and won´t move.
The lamp was hooked up on the open eye screw in the ceiling ( already there) so that I could make the elecrical connection. So with the wire connector , I connected the blue with the blue wire and the browm with the brown wire.
With wires connected, I placed the cable cap back in the ceiling and that was it. So I switched on and the bulb lighted.. Yuhuu!
You are a strong woman who can fixed like a man.Congrats on your Lakas loob. I love your lamp, The color is beautiful.
Thank you. I told you we can fix small things if we want to.
Good job, now who says women can't do it!
Correct.... we can do this job too!
This lamp it's awesome!
Thank you.
And its working now!!! Perfect tita @Mers.
Indeed, yeeeey!
Good Job Tita @mers love that moroccan lamp, beautiful & nice color ✨
Thank you @aura89.
Wow. I love the color combination of the lamp. It is more attractive when lighted.
Thank you, glad you like it too!
You are fully equipped with common sense, the slugs are the ones that can't fix a thing and even their own☺️
Alright! heheehe..good to see your comment here.
Perfectly done! You did it like a man and congrats, you dont need to pay labor.
Yes, saved money for that to get someone fix it... Thanks!
A ladder is much better and safer as a stable base than trying to stand on the bed to work on removing and reinstalling the lamp, and learned it best to switch off the breaker at the main breaker panel, safety first.
Most of the time I get my son to change the bulb as he is taller.
Yep, I did use the ladder, there was no point outbalancing and tiptoeing ... hahaha , but it is over now. Thanks!

Oh, this is great.
Well its good that you don't have to climb a ladder to do this because it will be more tedious for a lady to fix a bulb or electrical appliance on a ladder.
We have more women engineers these days and am happy to see that.
Oh well... I had to climb the ladder, no choice, lol! but it was no thing as I was able to fix it now. Thanks
That's good dear.
You welcome.
Excellent change of your bulb! I admire you, you handle working with electricity very well.
Thank you.... I ´m always interested in anything with electrical matters, lol.
Well done @mers. You were not scared to hold those wires which are dangerous!Next time you really ought to bring the breaker down.
Well, I know the feeling of being electrocuted since I have experimented it as a kid.... hahaha
Greetings, @mers!
