This is my first post and I am joining all of you here to share a bit of what a retiree like me does in my free time. My name is Mers, and I retired from the corporate world about 5 years ago. I live in Vienna for about 4 decades now. Vienna is a clean and green city and I love it here , the infrastructures are fine and we have a low crime rate.

Flowers, flowers, flowers....

It is obvious if you happened to have read some of my blogs that I love flowers, especially wildflowers...I love to arrange and photograph them and feature the arrangements in my contents.

Hobbies....

Gardening in containers is fun!!! We used to live in a row house with garden until about last year when we moved to a smaller apartment in another district. We lived in that house for about 30 years and we decided to give it up because of our "advanced" age (LOL!!!)! You may want to ask, why container gardening despite the garden? That is because downstairs, the garden was mostly visited by slugs and all my summer flowers were devastated every time I planted some on the grounds. That is why I opted to plant in containers on the upper terrace of the house.

I´ve had huge vegetable harvest even a huge squash that weighed around 10 kilos. This Summer my container cherry tomatoes yielded so many fruits and I was über -happy because it paid the work and care of the plants. Other hobbies I really love are cooking , woodworking, DIY crafts, and Quilting and reading (obviously). I bike seldom now, the seat of my bike is still too high for me and looks as though it could not be adjusted to lower it a bit. The only thing for me to do is to balance myself so that I do not fall down and break my leg and land in a hospital with Covid patients (wink!)

Lack of Space.....

I am so relieved now that we are done with the relocation which had been too tedious because we didn´t know where to put up things from the former house... Some were given away and the personal things were kept in the cellar of the apartment. I have so many books and since I didn´t want to give them away, I also tried storing them in our comfort room kind of made it into a gallery, hahaha! I had to be inventive, this way I still have the things I love in the apartment ( see below). What dya think of maximizing space?

I CRYPTO

Indeed, I am an active follower of anything crypto and I HODL a few Alts . I love farming tokens as well as faucets and any airdrop is lovely to have. I do a bit of shorting and day trading. However small the amount you earn from crypto trading, it all adds up!

Nature and Animal love...

TBH, I do not like animal cruelty in any form....I hate bullfighting torturing the bulls to death in the arena while the viewers clap their hands, nor putting dogs as live bait to catch big fishes in the Atlantic Ocean...Nature is a gift to us by Mother Earth and we should take care of it by making it clean to have a healthy environment and breath fresh air.

I have been wanting to join this community since it was founded but life has priorities. As a retiree, I should have more time now and I thought life would be easier because a retiree should simply have more time. Oh well, I am taking it slowly now that we are relocated to a new home.
