The Pink and White Cherry Blossoms - Vienna, Austria

Hello dear Hivers!

After a long hiatus, I am back blogging here in the Hive platform after a sad and devastating episode of my life last Sept. 2022. Today, I will be sharing about the three of the best places in Vienna where I experienced the beauty of the white and pink cherry blossoms in the beginning of Spring this year. This might have been untimely posted, but they have been vital to my emotional issues at that time as far as my health is concerned. The blooms are amazingly beautiful and I couldn't help thinking about the stunning "Sakura" flocked by tourists in Japan. Well, I need not travel there since these blooms can be found in the city I live in.

The buds of each cherry tree normally start to show up around the 3rd week of March depending on how mild the weather will be. I have been looking forward to the days when these buds come out, especially when the weather starts to get mild and the frost is subsiding. When you happen to be visiting Vienna around mid March and mid-April, the cherry blossoms are at its best.

1. Mexikoplatz - 2nd District - Leopoldstadt

Located in the plaza of the St. Francis of Assisi Church in the 2nd Vienna district of Leopoldstadt, this is one of the most vibrant locations to enjoy the beauty of the pink blossoms.

The trees have already matured that's why the blooms are in abundance. Leopoldstadt is a community separated by the Donaukanal from the city center. The trees are located at the plaza fronting the Catholic church which is frequented by the locals of various cultures.

The plaza is easily reached thru the underground train U1, station Vorgartenstrasse. The best time to visit is in the beginning of April when the trees are in full bloom.

2. Kirschenallee - 1220 Gross Enzersdorf, Donaustadt

I have been waiting for the blooms to show up. And because the place is a walking distance from my flat, I take my walk often here to not miss the coming out of the blooms.

I checked on the trees 3 weeks before these photos were taken and the trees were still bare. We had a long cold winter and the trees took a long time to display their beauty.

The area is composed of private homeowners...when the area was developed some around 40 years back, the district admins planted the community main road with cherry trees having white blossoms. The road of one kilometer reaches the Donau Auen National Park, a small entrance called Enzersdorfer Furth is frequented by locals most especially by families and bikers.

3. Kirschenhain, 1210 Nußdorf (Donau Insel)

The location of this grove is located between the Danube River and Alte Donau (Old Danube). The trees were planted to commemorate the friendship between Japan and Austria. Japan gifted the city of Vienna about one thousand trees which were planted in various areas.

The Kirschenhain (lit. Cherry Grove) has been a project of the city in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan. The garden has various garden granite stones made by artist group called "to the woods."

A scheduled Cherry Blossom Festival was supposed to be held last April 20, 2023 but it rained heavily so the program was canceled. I went there the following day when the sun came out and have been lucky to still witness the beauty of the blossoms.

And so these are three are among the best places to experience the beauty of the cherry blossoms be it white or pink in color during Springtime around March and April . When you are visiting Vienna around this time, do not forget to include this in your itenerary.

You're welcome..I am not sure if these trees grow in Saudi Arabia because of the heat there.

I am so jealous because you've got to see a lot of the cherry blossoms. One of the purposes of our travel to Japan was those blossoms but we were several days late. Most of the flowers have fallen to the ground.

Oh that's a pity to know, I am so sorry to hear that...next time, you should come to Vienna to experience seeing the blossoms...But there will be other chances tho and next time, you'll have to go earlier, lol.

Thanks for visiting. I am not sure whether this will grow there because of the heat, I think they like a mild climate...

I got to see cherry blossoms in Japan during the winter season but it wasn't fully bloomed. But I went to Taiwan during the spring season and saw a lot of cherry blossoms in a park.

Nice di bah, no need to go to Japan to witness these blooms in person, although I would love to see the flair of their culture there.

lovely cherry blossoms I had no idea there were so many different kinds of cherry blossoms, including white. I wish it also grew in tropical areas! It will undoubtedly be a sight to behold.

Thank you for dropping by...indeed they are so pretty. I am ot sure whether this will grow in tropical areas but surely some biologist must have the answer as to how robust this plant is when it comes to the heat.
