Hello dear Hivers!

The good news is ...Vienna made it again as the World's Most Liveable City in 2023 based on the study just released by the European Intelligence Unit, a sister organization of The Economist. In the index they issued, 173 countries were considered in the study and Vienna topped them all and for many years now. The city is nicknamed "the city of dreams''. According to CNN, here is why:

CNN News
Vienna held onto its first place spot on the EIU’s Global Liveability Index, winning praise for its reliable infrastructure, standout culture and entertainment and impeccable education and health services.

My Wednesday Walk ...June 21, 2023

Due to an unforeseen cancellation of my doctor's appointment, I decided not to go home. Instead, I walked in the city and went around the center and its surrounding streets. As usual, the city is jam-packed with tourists. The heat was still bearable before noon and the tourists were all busy clicking their cameras to capture the beauty of Vienna´s architecture and famous places.

It was lovely to see people who managed to come to the city and see them enjoy the atmosphere Vienna has to offer. One can go round the vicinity of the Ringstrasse to see important old buildings and I am sure they were excited and enjoyed what they were seeing. The cafes and ice cream parlors along the plaza are the best places to unwind when one is tired after a walk.

The horse carriages were all busy touring the visitors to places and they seemed to like the idea of being brought to historical areas and being explained what the area is all about.

Some of the tourists came in buses and in groups. I noticed them holding on to their maps and guides to understand the places they were about to see.

It's been a hot but nice day for this walk and I began to feel the heat and decided to go to the underground station where it's always cool, towards the direction of my home. It made me smile that at least I have walked around in the city again as a consolation of a failed doctor's appointment.

You would also need a good pair of shoes as there are so many things to see and you can go round the inner city for long hours..

Seeing the carriage reminds me of our "tartanilla" in Cebu.

I have experienced this in the 60s in my hometown Parañaque ...we call it kalesa. It was fun passing the green ricefields.
