Torah Sundial in Będzin, Poland

The angle of the stone Torah matches the latitude. The sides of the Torah scroll give shadow - on the mornings the on left hand side, in the afternoon - the right hand side one. There are stripes in the middle which tell the hour when the shadow reaches them. Corrections between -15 and +15 minutes need to be made depending on the time of the year. Early April needs no adjournment. The sun time almost matches the civil time.

If the top of the Torah is oriented to the north (the rose on the left of the photo), then the shadow will probably be the opposite :-)
