Life e Dragão possui apenas 1.

Clique aqui e assista a batalha!

Hello Splinters, welcome back!

A Splinterlands player must understand each of the existing skills well. There are many skills, they can be directed to different roles in a battle. Some give more firepower to friendly monsters, others take something away from the opponent. Some provide support and protection, others take away an existing advantage, and so on!

Some skills will depend on the luck of being activated, such as Stun, Poison and Retaliate. These skills mentioned have a 50% chance of being activated, it is not difficult for this to happen.

Today we are going to talk about the skill Retaliate, a skill that has given me some victories in my battles. Let's check!

This skill activates when a monster that has it is attacked by a monster that has melee attack. As we mentioned above, there is a 50% chance that this ability will be activated and counterattack the opponent. This isn't a skill that will always work, but 50% isn't such a hard amount to get.

In some situations this ability will be very OP, and can unbalance a match, especially if used in the right conditions.

A perfect battle rule to put this skill to good use is Up Close & Personal.

As in this rule only monsters that have melee attack can be used, the chance that a monster that has Retaliate can counterattack is much higher.

Another rule where Reatliate can be very useful is when we have Super Sneak.

All monsters with melee attacks will attack the last monster in the enemy back row. That way, the chances of Retaliate being active is very good and with that happening, monsters will be able to take more damage!

For me, these are the main rules where Retaliate will be most effective. There are other situations, of course, in which this skill can be put to good use, just reading the opportunities according to the match variable. In the Explosive Weaponry rule for example, all monsters gain the Blast ability. A monster that can attack the attacker and deal more damage to adjacent monsters will be very offensive within a match. But it's hard to say that this will always work, as it depends on many factors, but it could be a good opportunity.

Another situation I like to explore is when I'm low on mana. A monster that has Retaliate has a high chance of facing a tank that also has melee attack. If the dispute is very close, the monster that gives more attacks will have more advantage over the other.

See below, all the monsters that have this ability, in their respective levels and editions:

As we can see, the fire element has the most monsters with this ability option. Life and Dragon has only 1. In total there are 23 different monsters, distributed by all elements.

Out of all these monsters, 4 will have this ability at first level. Perfect for those just starting out!

I would like to highlight two monsters that can be very interesting to have as an option to compete in the Gold League onwards: CERBERUS and HYDRA

CERBERUS
This monster is perfect for low mana games. A very offensive monster that in addition to Retaliate, can heal itself. A very welcome tank for times of scarcity. A perfect monster for Little League rule, where the ceiling cost a monster can power is 4.

HYDRA
This monster is of the neutral element, and for me, one of the best low mana tanks, only 7. Its abilities besides Retaliate and Heal, bring another disadvantage to the melee attacker through from Thorns. A monster that will almost always be available, regardless of which element we are going to use.

Well, since we talked about this skill, its best opportunities and its monsters, how about a battle to finishair this content?

This is a perfect set of situations to show a little how the Retaliate skill is effective and can unbalance the game. With only 12 mana available, a monster that can deal more attacks will benefit more.

I choose the Hydra monster to accompany me in this game and I'm going to take advantage of its abilities for this occasion:

  • Thorns to give more damage to melee monsters, which by the way, is what we will face in this battle rule together with Amplify, which will give more damage than natural.

  • Heal, which will restore the damage suffered and keep you on the field longer.

  • Retaliate, which will increase my chances of dealing more damage to attacking monsters.

Click here and watch the battle!

My opponent put good monsters on the field, it wasn't an easy match to win. It was helped with more damage by Inspire from his second monster and put monsters to "plug hole" just like me.

Tank x tank, my main difficulty was hitting some attacks, but nothing that hurt me too much, I was causing more damage than my opponent, both by the Thorns and by Retaliate. In the end I won and Retaliate did its job on the pitch!

Here I end this post. Thank you for spending some of your time with my words and thoughts. To the next!!
