LITTLE LEAGUE
ARMORED UP

Close Range/ Melee Mayhen

Hello Splinters, welcome back!!

Another week has passed and it's time to talk a little about the letter of the week!! GARGOYA SCRAPPER is the center of our attention and today we are going to focus on talking about some of its positives and negatives, meditate on which battle rules this monster can do better, talk about its status and of course, show this monster in action within a battle!!!

As we know, this is a common card that belongs to the life element, has a melee attack and costs only 1 mana to choose. Little attack, health and speed... What we can take advantage of this monster we'll find out below!

This is a monster that has many limitations, including having a melee attack in which it can only perform attacks while in the first position of the battlefield. It is not an imposing card, no opponent will fear it and it will hardly make any difference in a battle if used without a purpose. So why the hell should we choose this card for a battle?

The main utility I usually think this monster has is that in low mana games its real purpose is to force the opponent to waste attacks or even more if we somehow manage to protect this monster by some skill or battle rules. There are some rules that will totally change the dynamics of a match and it is through this possibility that we will make GARGOYA SCRAPPER a more efficient card to be used in our matches:

LITTLE LEAGUE
Only monsters with a cost of 4 mana or less can be used and GARGOYA SCRAPPER ends up being a good option for this rule because it fits this requirement, in low mana games available ends up becoming an effective weapon to bring more volume to combat.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
All monsters in the back row will attack the monster with the lowest health on the field and this is an excellent way to pull attacks to GARGOYA SCRAPPER and spare other more important monsters. Of course, for low mana games this strategy is more efficient.
ARMORED UP
All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat and based on GARGOYA SCRAPPER being a card to force the opponent to waste attacks this is a great condition for it to become more efficient taking into account non-magical attacks, but if he is already at level 3 and has the Void skill, he will be more effective taking less or no magic damage at all.
HOLY PROTECTION
In this rule the purpose of wasting rival attack is the same, but no matter what type of attack it is, it will work the same way. If there is the possibility of adding shield with this rule active, through the Protect effect, it becomes even more efficient and needless to say that if the monster already has the Void skill things get better
EQUALIZER
The starting Health of all Monsters is the same as the Monster on any team with the highest base Health. And this can make it possible for GARGOYA SCRAPPER, a monster that has only 1 mana to have a good amount of health to even be used as a tank in matches that have little mana available. To my way of thinking this is the best battle rule for this card.
MELEE MAYHEM
Following the logic of a match and low mana, having a card to attack that costs only 1 mana is a good option and this battle rule allows that to happen but always taking into account low mana matches.

In Splinterlands the battle rules bring more dynamics to our matches and cards that we wouldn't normally take to a match end up becoming important cards to have as an option. The variations in the amount of mana that we find is also a determining factor when choosing which monster to scale, in a low-mana game we want to have low-cost monsters and these monsters can be decisive to create a good strategy. So for that reason I believe this is a good card, but not because of its attributes but because of its cost that can provide a good choice for specific occasions.

Close Range/ Melee Mayhen

In this battle, the rules were interesting to choose monsters with ranged attack, since they could attack even if they were in the first position and this also applies when we talk about melee attack that could attack from the back line, this dynamic brought more possibilities to the battle. 21 of mana to use is a reasonable thing and scaling monsters when we have that amount of mana is something that needs to be done well to have a greater chance of winning.

I chose the summoner Selenia Sky to enhance the ranged attacks I took to battle, I saw this type of attack as an option since they wouldn't be limited even when they were in the first position of the field. My opponent has opted for shields and speed, this will give me work!

My lineup for this match looks like this:

Column 1Column 2
imageChosen to be the tank of this match for having a good amount of health, Flyng ability and speed that could cause my opponent to waste attacks.
imageThe big star of the night that was chosen for its low cost and providing the opponent with a wasted attack.
imageA low-cost monster with good skill, its enhanced ranged attack proved to be a good option for the offensive part as well.
imageChosen for having great attributes conducive to this battle.
imageMy team's offensive weapon, a powerful attack that could be used twice due to its skill.
imageChosen for its great value for money, a monster that could attack with great brutality and take opposing monsters to death!

Round 1

Teams in their positions and right from the start I see that my strategy of scaling my tank aiming for speed and possible dodges would not be very effective, my opponent came with a speed buff and my tank couldn't hold on for long.

image

Round 2

Even with my initial pessimism, the first tank to fall was the one on the other side, without much emotion the first round was serene. But one point I should mention, the monster with the Snipe skill that my opponent has can give me trouble in the next rounds, let's follow this story.

image

Round 3

After a few attacks, I wasted more attacks, the speed of opposing monsters is much higher and his tank has two abilities that are ruining my plans: Dodge and *Return Fire *.

image

Final Round

As I imagined my plans went from bad to worse in a few actions, one by one my monsters were falling and attacks were wasted and even after the enemy tank was down I didn't have much of a chance. That was a good match, even better for my rival who came out with the win.

image

The lesson I take from this match is that I should have protected myself better, my monsters were very exposed to attacks and that was crucial for them to be eliminated. GARGOYA SCRAPPER played his role and helped in this match, next time I will be more experienced and with better strategies to win.
