Though I am not going to fall for this 100% also, because then there are some actions where they want to promote their own apps. My goal is to be in the eco-warrior position.
I would personally choose an eco-conscious position. I should accept only those things that is within my control, but I will pay attention to external limits as well.
I would agree with you that app-driven motivation these days are highly commercialized, so even though it happens to be for a green cause, institutional power is shaping the behaviors in the name of process and progress.

True, this is what I too believe that in the name of nature and environment these institutions are driving towards fulfilling their own agendas.
