Defying the Bully (LOH #95)

MIL1.jpg

I am calm, collective, and fairly composed even when things go topsy-turvy, and generally tend to mind my own business. However, witnessing the bullying of the helpless makes me short-fused.

I am also super sensitive, but I'm very thick-skinned. Therefore, as short-fused, as I am, I'm fully grounded and able to disregard the words or actions of persons against me, if I deem such actions unworthy of my energy.
This enables me to maintain my inner peace.

From as far back as my memory serves me, I have always been attuned to the emotions and tribulations of others, and I hear silent cries. This troubled me as a child, and caused me to have recurring superpower fantasies to inflict pain/torture serve justice to wrongdoers, just from knowing.

Still, I'm a realist, so I let go of those fantasies and I accept that there will never be equality, fairness, or a level playing field in this world in my lifetime. Notwithstanding, I have never turned a blind eye and I will always interject to help someone helpless who is being abused, especially if it is physical.

PSX_20220819_152924.jpg

This does not mean that I would act without thinking. I am rational even when angry; but rationalizing scenarios of injustice without reacting makes me too angry, to not interject.

Doing nothing makes me feel like I'm complying with a bully. Therefore, I am always prepared to risk myself getting hurt, simply because I vehemently oppose bullies and cowards.

I do not support violence of any nature, but I am not one to turn the other cheek, nor ignore another's cry. Woe be onto the bully...

There'll be no boiling just FUMES!

Protecting the vulnerable is of paramount importance to me. So to pacify my anger, I try to encourage victims to stand up for themselves and realize that bullying is a shortcoming of the bully, with the hope that they will fight back and overcome it. Contrarily, conflict resolution for others is not something I am too keen on, simply because I think that the solutions to problems between two persons, need to come from a mutual understanding of differences between the two, for persons to come to a compromise, with both or everyone agreeing.

My views on dealing with anger are that regardless of what might trigger emotions of anger in us, we are the only ones who are responsible and capable of controlling our feelings and actions. Whatever scenario might present itself, or if we feel provoked to wrath, we all have a moral code that we should check, to avoid us acting irresponsibly, which could lead to regrets.

Thank you so much for reading:)

This is my response to the question presented by @ifarmgirl from the Ladies Of Hive community, Contest #95, question 1

I use this opportunity to invite @luckylaica to this contest, as I'd love to hear your story:)))

Photos are mine, of course.

Very well said.

Bully's watch out.

I do not support violence of any nature, but I am not one to turn the other cheek either, nor ignore another's cry. Woe be onto the bully...

Are you a Libra is what was going through my mind the entire read... I read pieces of myself mirrored in yours.

One challenge on my part though... I get carried away and hence the idea of a grounded but rightfully triggered being told me that whatever I am aiming at is possible.

Thank you for sharing :)

Hey there!
No, I'm a Cancerian; right on the cusp of Leo. However, my Chinese sign is the Fire Dragon, which is quite accurate:)

Yes, I think when you are properly grounded and balanced, it's easier to let things slide unless dire.

Thanks for stopping by:)))

Hey 🌞

The fire dragon part makes sense. Or rather explains a lot.

Trying my best to find a solid spot for my spiritual feet!

We certainly can't sit back and just watch when someone bullies another. Reading this made me somehow wish we can all be supportive and protective of each other, then perhaps, the world would be a lot safer and better :)

Thank you lots Milly for sharing your beautiful story :) I wish you a glorious weekend!

I've been bullied when I was young and I don't, and will never tolerate such a thing.. I know how the victims feel and that's something I don't my little siblings to experience.. So far, lessons were learned from those experiences and made me a tougher adult...

I can relate to this. I have always been super sensitive and I feel the pain of other beings. It is a blessing and a curse. If only more people would make a stand against violence and cruelty, imagine the world we would live in. I would certainly stand side by side with you @millycf1976 xxxx

It is a blessing and a curse.

Indeed! I know that very well. That's why I ensure that I am properly grounded, otherwise, my mental health would be haywire from absorbing and trying to solve problems that are not my own. I wouldn't change this part of me though!
Enjoy the last half of the weekend @trucklife-family xx:))

Has anyone told you how pretty your teeth are lately? Don't be alarmed or beat me up or anything, I regularly compliment nice teeth. Stuff like routine maintenance, porcelain caps, straightening, whitening are basic services back home. So when I see pretty teeth I make sure they hear it.

Cheeeeeeeesse!

Haha! Your comment cracked me up with a very big cheese.
I had to look to see which teeth you were speaking of 🤣
I happily accept your compliment.
Have a lovely week ahead:)))

I understand how you feel and it is great to hear that you are one of the people who will support someone being bullied. I was bullied when I was young and I learnt valuable life lessons which I've passed on to my children. However sometimes bullying can come in different forms and it is not always obvious. I cannot stand bullies and I am always on the look out to protective myself and others.

What you said, it reminds me of what Mike Tyson said about using our energy wisely, and forgiveness.

Again, I am quite the angry type, so I have a long way to go...

WOW! What a powerful interview!
I've come a LONG WAY!
Growing up, I was "a left eye for a left eye and a right tooth for a right tooth." I was a natural 'avenger'. I could scheme the perfect revenge, and I executed them diligently. Then, somewhere along the line, I changed. I realised how harmful anger is to my health lol.
We are all energy, and we have to protect our energies. We cannot make space in our lives for people who did us wrong.
It took me tremendous self-work to reach this stage.

I think with your creative mind, you'll let go of anger - small steps at a time:))
