A LITTLE TO KNOW ABOUT THE AFRICAN PEAR
Hello there,feels good to be here after a while. You're sure having a splendid day right? So,about the African pear,this is a popular street fruit in Nigeria.
It is mostly taken with roasted or boiled corn but some people take it with bread or use its paste as butter on the bread.
It can be taken either raw,after soaked in hot water for few seconds or roasted.
In my dialect, African Pear is called "Eben".When unripe it is pink in colour but when ripe,it is dark purple.
Eben is has lots of nutrients in it like fibre,sugar,vitamins ,minerals and antioxidants.
It is very healthy for the body keeping the skin all glowy because of its vitamin C content. It is good for the heart and it helps in healthy bowel movement. It even helps strengthen the bone and teeth as it contains calcium and phosphorus.
Interestingly,the paste is used by traditional healers to treat open faced wounds,ringworm,skin rashes or any parasitic wounds.
