I STILL FEEL BAD EVERYTIME I REMEMBER (#65 Ladies of Hive Contest)

Hi Ladies,how are you all doing? Great right? For this week's contest i will be answering both questions. Here is my answer to the first question:

1. What is your most embarrassing moment that you cannot forget?

WelI, I do not remember the date and day but all that happened,I still remember. I mean it's all glued to my memory. Anytime I recall all that happened I still feel like slapping me. Yeah,right I still do.

It was a beautiful morning. I went to the bank to carry out some transactions.

So I got in,did the necessary and got to the bank entrance glass door,pressed the "go" button for the door to open and stood there. I kept pressing yet still,the door didn't open. I heard a voice behind me "Hello". I looked back,there was this grown guy. "It's been open for a while now,don't know why you didn't step in". He said. "What?" I screamed in my head. And oh please don't give me that look. I will explain. I felt like disappearing to anywhere else or go underneath the floor but I found me finally out of the premises,without looking back.I felt so bad till I got home and the feeling continued days after.

The thing about embarrassment is that you feel so humiliated,uncomfortable whether you were at fault or someone else put you in the middle of it all. I felt really small,my confidence level dropped. It wasn't just the guy who was behind me,there were other people for crying out loud. The picture's playing in my head even as I type. The only comforting part is I do not have a picture of the guy in my head or that of anyone who was behind else I would have sleepless nights. Uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh!

I am myopic(nearsighted) meaning I am unable to see distant objects unaided- reason I always have my corrective lenses on.
But that was not the case on this day. Why did I not see that the glass door right in front of me had long given me way? My glasses was in bad shape. It was blurry and sure the treatment on it was wearing off. The lights at the bank didn't help either. I was supposed to go for my check - up and get my lens changed but I was managing while saving up for a new one. Yeah financial issues! So of all days,it picked that day to embarrass me?

Ohhhhhhhhhhh. And yeah I remember I tried apologizing to the guy behind but he was looking sternly like "I can't believe this just happened". Whoever thinks people who use glasses are very brilliant! Huhhhhh,I did look like a fool at the moment. Sometimes I smile when I remember but it is more annoying than it is funny.

Lesson learnt - I try as much as I can to go for my check-ups and lens change no matter how broke I might be. I don't want to get embarrassed by my glasses no more.

Funny thing about life is embarasssment is so a part of it. You learn through it in a way whether it was all your fault or not and you can't escape it. Everyone faces it somehow. This happened some four/five years back but it stays in my memory and it cant be erased. Milly just has to live with it.So I smile sometimes...

1. What is the story behind your hive username?

My hive username is "millymillions". The "millions" part attracts trouble sometimes. People either think / see me as one wealthy or influential being. Hahahahaha like I count my money in millions. Yeah,that's where I am looking at and even beyond.

While in Tertiary Institution,I volunteered to co- host programmes and cast news in the school/town radio station and so one of the DJs - Uwem ( his dialect name which means "life"). thought to call me "Millions". And so when it became a topic that I had no radio name,Uwem put it out that I be called "millymillions" and they all accepted except me. I mean I have always loved my name and I still do. I see no need for a nickname - never had one. Everyone thought it rhymed when they keep repeating "millymillions". I used it only on-air though.

Fast forward to when my childhood friends introduced me to this platform and I was like "I should use millymillions". I used it because that's the only nickname or other name I have ever had. And I will ever have. That's it!
