Hype or Need

How often do you fall for hypes? In my case, it happens pretty low but only with the things that I am really interested in, isn't it a good thing? Let's move ahead.

Roll back to a year ago,

I was going through a learning phase over a particular skill; I am still chasing that one. So one day, before even finishing that learning phase, there was an opportunity to grab something that might be useful in the coming days with an almost 70% discount; even with that, it was a good amount of money to spend right then. I decided to grab that opportunity, not just me; a few others I knew took that too.

How careless I am!

I haven't used that, not even once. There were some messy configurations, so when I had a reset on my PC, I got lazy and didn't set up after that. After almost five or six months, when I needed that to try out, I lost the credentials of that account along with the config files. Well, the same happened with the rest of us; none of us could utilize that purchase as we weren't in any need back then, and now, when we could have utilized we lost our access somehow. Meanwhile, we were just idling around.

So it all started with a flash sale, and we got hyped; we weren't in need but got that thinking we may need it; these kinda hypes often turn out to be a waste. I have fallen for this many times, different ads on products, flash sales, and lucrative articles to manipulate our minds. Some of them were useful too, won't lie.

Here we go again,

So a couple of days back, a similar hype. There was an 80% sale on another service; it comes once a year. Months ago, I was in need of it, ran away on seeing the regular price tag it charges every month, and searched for this particular flash sale and when it occurs. And suddenly saw that live for only 24 hours, and I got one for myself. One of my partners booked one for him, too; he was reminding me of the past incident, too. But we were so hyped that we ended up grabbing this opportunity too. Hyped or need? I guess this time I am in need of this as I am using it since the second day of my purchase, first day was unstable due to the huge pressure of purchase which resulted in being down, lol.

But this time, it's different; not gonna waste this just like the previous one. I went straight to youtube and searched for tutorials to have an idea of how to utilize it properly. I went through four or five lengthy tutorials, couple of them are still on the watchlist. Will I be a master now? Not at all, not even close, but I will have an overall idea of how to operate it so that I can utilize it synchronously with my current work state, and the rest of the things will be explored on the go.
