It seems that quite recently I returned from a trip to the African continent. I happened to visit equatorial latitudes. I returned home deeply impressed by what I saw. A completely different climate, different vegetation, a completely different landscape. Two weeks of travel flew by in an instant. We exchanged money for impressions and emotions. As confirmation of this exchange, I brought home photographs, videos and ... several paintings.

I spent three days in an equatorial paradise on Mafia Island. Three days on this island cost my family $ 2000. Why is it so expensive, you ask. To understand the price of one person's stay at the Butiyama Beach Hotel. The cost for one day is $ 150!

If you paid such an insane price for three days on the island, you simply have to enjoy every minute you spend there. We spent the first day diving. The second day we chased whale sharks. What did I spend the third day on? Painting! A madman, you say, and you will be right. But the fact is that I get much fun doing that.

In such a beautiful place, I avoided the main problem - finding a suitable scene for painting. I spotted several picturesque boats.
On the third day, I got up very early with two goals: I wanted to avoid the heat and the disturbing spectators.

If you don't paint outdoors, you will never notice how quickly the weather and lighting change. I started drawing when the sun was obscured by clouds. Half an hour later, the sun came out and brightly lit the beach. It's good that I found a place under the awning and were in the shade.

Below you can see the stage of applying the first layers of watercolor. I made this picture using the glazing method.

At first I only wanted to draw two boats. But then I got carried away with the process and thought that the third boat would improve the composition of the picture.

I painted the third boat with particular pleasure. I got so carried away that I almost missed breakfast. I must say the breakfast at the Butiyama beach hotel is fantastic.
