My Proud Tale

I quite have a few things that when I remember how and when it happened, I can look at myself and proudly sing eulogies of praise to myself.

For a person like me, or for someone who also hails from where I come from, being able to relate to everyday life is a struggle and surviving it is a victory.

But since surviving "in the trenches" is more of a lifestyle, not some random achievement to be proud of, so for this particular day I have a better tale to tell, one that I can beat up my chest like "King Kong" and I would forever be proud of.

It might not look too big or you might not deserve all this hype I'm giving it but to me it is worth every bit of it.

Just after my secondary school, after the first month of being at home, I said to myself that enough with the boredom and unproductive month, let me think straight, get myself a job and also build myself in all possible ramifications.

So I spoke to my parents about it and they bought the idea, I made a few searches for available jobs I could do that wouldn't be too stressful for me to do, one that would also let me have time for myself and also one with some satisfactory pay.

I made searches, I told a friend to tell a friend, went to the nooks and crannies of my small town asking for a job with all my seriousness. I did that and also supported my haunt with prayers, and just as always God did show His face and something came up good and clean for me.

It was on a fateful evening, when my mother returned from work, around that time I had finished all the chores at home for me to do wvn those that were for my siblings to do, but since I was always at home then I was literally doing every gad damn chores that was needed to be done. From cooking, washing, sweeping just any chore you'd think of I was doing everyone of it daily apart from Sundays.

So after I served her a dinner and she told me she had something to tell me, she told me there was a vacani coming up on the first day of the following month which was June, that the person working there was resigning that month and that the person that spoke to her about the job asked me to come the next day which was 29th so that I'd be out through the work and it's process.

You might be wondering what job it is, well actually it was a job for sim registration.

Things happened so fast, the pay was nice and good and luckily things were so favourable. I had gathered upto three hundred thousand naira, my family went broke and I was the one good used to helping them sail across the stormy sea.

Still proud that I paid the bills of the house for a month and half, and paid my siblings' school fees.

The one thing I would forever be proud of is helping my family, my whole family sail through the stormy sea of financial instability.

Until next time stay safe, thank you all for reading.

Wow.. you were really a God sent blessing at that time. One lesson I learnt from this;

Let the family responsibilities and source of income not be from a single person.

I wonder how the situation would have been if you hadn't taken that decision.

Wow... That would be a moment they would never forget. And I am sure you would never forget it as well. Because when you were needed, you were there. And that is something to be proud of.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
