Mindful counting of chanting AMITUOFO ten times

There has been plenty of information on mindfulness practice.

This is a short instruction to train our mindfulness through another lesser known approach.

Basically, it involves mindful counting of chanting A-MI-TUO-FO ten times.

The background to the purpose of chanting A-MI-TUO-FO can be found here.

It is recommended that we recite A-MI-TUO-FO mindfully, if possible.

Even if we fall short in achieving maintaining full mindfulness while reciting the Buddha's name, it is said that lack of mindfulness does not affect the wholesome effect of practicing at all.

But if we wanted a bit of challenge, such as to train our focus or mindfulness, this method of mindful counting while chanting A-MI-TUO-FO ten times has been recommended.

Reciting 10 times and not forgetting which one we are at may be challenging, but Master Hui (video below, for those who can understand mandarin) had explained how he practices.

Basically, with every recitation of A-MI-TUO-FO, mentally assign it to one of the lights arranged as follows.

First on the left group: top center, bottom left, and bottom right.

Second on the right group: top center, bottom left, and bottom right.

Finally, on the bottom group: top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right.

Once this is done, you will be mindful that 10 recitations had been completed. If for any reason, mind wandering happens, just start all over.

Why don't you try this approach of developing mindfulness and write in the comments how many you have chanted? I would be happy to send you the equivilant amount of the AMITOFUO tokens.
